For bass:
Sebastian Steinberg of Soul Coughing Eric A - Jane's Addiction Colin Greenwood - Radiohead
. . and the best pop bass player ever has got to be Colin Moulding from XTC. One listen to Mayor of Simpleton confirms this.

what about drummers? scott boutier is excellent - as is sterling campbell (bowie - again!!), john densmore and chad from chili peppers. so many to choose from though.
There may be no 'I' in team, but there's a 'ME' if you look hard enough. |

Ooo, I love Flea!! And John F. of the Peppers is pretty cool too - although completely crazy, though I guess many good artists are. |

Is it me, or does listening to Zappa have a shelf life of about 3 years? I own about 40 of his records, and I haven't had the desire to listen to them in a long, long time. The only ones that seems to endure for me are Yellow Shark and Civilization Phase Three. Maybe because they rely less on novelty?

i certainly go thru zappa phases - certain songs and albums (especially apostrophe' and hot rats) remain consistent, but the more schticky stuff like sheif yerbouti isn't regular listening -brian
