happy birthday andy - hope all the usual henhouse residents are doing well today -anyone that doesn't own it, go out and pick up the Soul Jazz Records comp "In the Beginning There Was Rhythm" - its a collection of UK post punk/punk funk stuff from the late 70s early 80s like the Slits, Gang of Four, 23 Skidoo, A Certain Ration, etc. Its awesome

And quiet today as well. I loved both the Slits and the Gang of Four, Brian. In fact, I think the Gang of Four were on Edinburgh's Fast Record Label when they started. |

Lots of cake! My daughters both knew that cake was scheduled and hardly ate anything of their main course. Then a massive cakefest ensued - great fun.
Hope you are okay Em! |

It's all relative. I am OK, just sad.
Cakefest sounds lovely, what kind of cake, may I ask? |

A chocolate sponge, with the emphasis on the chocolate. There is still some left for tonight. Both girls were hyper afterwards - somehow I don't think it was the excitement of the occasion that had got to them. |

Girls and chocolate; a winning combination. I always request cheesecake on my birthday...with strawberries! Yum, could use some now actually. |

You are making me hungry. And there is a cake shop around the corner from my work! I have an evening meeting tonight though - better get everything ready for it. |

Ah, dessert talk. I think that definitely qualifies as smut (if only in a subliminal way.) Glad you had a good birthday, Andy. Children and chocolate are always a fun combo. (We have a "no chocolate after 7 p.m. rule" for Zelda now after learning the hard way that it launches her into orbit until at least midnight.)
Hey Em, Bob was reading yesterday's thread and has taken it upon himself to burn you a CD. Email me w/yer addy and I'll drop it in the mail.
Done teaching for today. Ready to start drinking. :-) |

Oh, that is so nice! Wait, I might start crying again. I am like an open wound. Feh! Will email the address.
Think everyone should obey the no chocolate after 7 rule, I know if I go to bed on a sugar kick, I just can't stop moving my feet. Dancy sugar feet! Wheee!
How is the teaching going? Having fun, I hope! |

You'll find no sympathy here, Birthday Boy! ;-)
Nah, it was Strindberg. Weird guy. I'm saving Shaw for next week. We have to take an extra day with him coz the preface to his plays are almost as long as the plays themselves. <sigh>
Ordered a new computer yesterday (mine is threatening to die an ugly death), so when I look out over the sheeple, I just smile and think of the little lifestyle upgrade that they have made possible. To their credit, they are finally beginning to perk up a bit. |

God, that meeting tonight is bringing me out in a cold sweat! Help me Bob! Glad the sheeple are reacting to cattle prods.
Take care all, bye for now. |

Good luck with the meeting, Andy. Report back on it tomorrow and we'll review your case to see whether you merit any mercy music.
Em, I love the phrase "dancy sugar feet!" Now I have a name for my near-perpetual condition. :-) Hope you have a nice Wednesday. I'm off to grade things. Ugh. |

An eMac! It will be so much faster than what I have now (I've got the earliest model of iMac and it's verrry pokey.) Combined with the cable modem, I will now post at lightning speed. Whoosh!
I'm off to spend more money. Sorry you're having a suck-y day, Bazza. I'll do some impulse buying in your honor and name a purchase after you. (How 'bout the Barry Byrne Commemorative Sports Bra?) : P |

Sorry to butt in folks, but I just saw a Pixies live rendition of Gigantic at the Sundown festival on No Disco(only sourse of real music since MTV has become chart music & media hype) which blew my mind, I never knew Charles(sorry, I never know what to call him since this isnt a total Pix or FB room) played the main riff part which I alway's thought Joey played? Anyways Mr O'Tool played the Undertones and the Beach Boys, which was a nice follow up?

Good-o, but ready for this week to be over. I'm going to be up way late getting ready for class tomorrow. (I need to quit playing with the computer, but I can't stop!)
Man, things are crazy out on the board today--I think I'm going to hide out in here until everyone calms down a bit. |

I don't know about original, but you can never go wrong with the old candy/flower combo. Gets us every time--I don't know why. That and cute pj's.
I'm no darn help at all. |

How about composing a song, Brian? Steve Earle forgot to buy a gift for his 4th (and 6th!) wife - he wrote her a song - called Valentine's Day, unsurprisingly. |

A bonzai tree would be cool, but I still recommend that you present it with a chocolate backup gift. (This could just be my own personal sugar addiction talking.) Yay for a three stooges bobblehead set! I wish St. Valentine would bring me a Simpsons chess set. And chocolate.
@ once got me Tom Wait's "Blue Valentine" as a Valentine's gift, and it was just perfect. |
