| Rockaby. It's quite short. Just Billie Whitelaw sitting mute in a rocking chair while a taped monologue plays. (A monologue about alienation and mortality, naturally.) In print it's only about 3 pages long. |

There have been numerous Beckett seasons on TV here. As a young lad I remember being made to watch Billie Whitelaw, and asking my mum:"why is that lady siting in a cloud?" Luckily, when we read Beckett at school I got a bit more out of it!

Friday. I teach MWF.
When I was in grad school, they brought Billie Whitelaw in for a residency with the acting students and they put on a night of six Beckett one-acts. You had to travel from building to building to see them all. Fun! (I would have to get off the elevator every time she got on cause I couldn't stop staring at her like a motard. She has a very magnetic presence.)

I'm so tired that my head's all whirly. I think I'm going to have to persuade Zelda to take a nap with me. (She has a little cold today, so maybe I could accomplish my goal by giving her some nice narcotic cough syrup. Hey! It's medicinal!)

I'm going to go sleep now--I swapped Zelda 20 minutes of computer time for a nap with me, and now it's time fo her to hold up her end of the bargain. I remain skeptical--she has informed me that "I'm not at all tired. At. All."

Hey everyone,
Just wanted to say bravo Em, on your progress with Bob! Hooray!! So glad to read that things turned for the better... like Sarah said at least it would be nice to get a good friend out of all of this! :)
Sounds like your first day was a success, Sarah, here's to many more! :) First days are always the toughest, so you'll prolly feel much more comfortable from here on out. I've taught before too, and it's hellish the first day. But once you get to know everyone it really becomes a lot of fun.
Got to run, going out tonight (woo-hoo!)... I don't think I even remember what the world is like anymore for grown-ups, I've been down being sick for so long!!

Hey, darlins. I'm only stopping through briefly. I have a croupy child that I have to take to the dr. today. We had to cancel play day and she's devastated. She dictated an email for me to send her friend which is so cute that I have to reproduce it here. Please forgive me. : )

I read the classes are going ok then? The students aren't doing their job properly if they didn't make you cry on the first day!

I fully expected to go home and cry. Not sure what happened there. I at least thought I'd lose my voice or have a seizure of some kind during my lecture. Nothing. Whaddya know. There's always tomorrow. : P
