Oh hey, and thanks for your nice post in the "Frank on the Forum" thread, St. Francis!
And Andy, you inspired me to look up some McGonagall poetry online today and I nearly choked to death on aspirated tea--so dreadful and so funny! Thank you! |

Hey Sarah, you rock out there girl!! I've been watching that topic with amazement at each of your posts!
Thanks for your thoughts regarding Frank and the photos, it was a very sweet night indeed. And I was brave enough to tell him that I'm the bio-elf and he was also very receptive to that. I think I floated home on cloud nine that night (and you should have seen my girl's faces the next morning when they saw the autograph and the alien face drawing he did for me!!). I mean I know there's been many a topic about 'he's just a normal guy, give him a break if he's moody, don't idolize him', etc etc but I couldn't help it after that. Frank is the best, hands down. What a gentleman. |

Thanks, ya'll. I know I should leave the Jazzmaster alone, but it's irresistible to me in a icky sort of way--kind of like licking a 9-volt battery. Or being back on the school bus. :-)
I totally agree with you about Frank. He's just the coolest. At the LR show I stuck my hand through the throng of autograph seekers and handed him a book (I remember reading that he's just getting into classical and I had a good guide) and said "Merry Christmas," and suddenly everyone parted and we just got to stand in the street with him for a couple of minutes and talk about music. He told me what he was listening to currently and seemed genuinely appreciative (if a little surprised). What a good-humored guy.
I don't understand it--it took us a week to get through page 17 and we blew through page 18 in one day! The pagination of the forum is a mystery to me. |

Reason 1: I wasn't on board Mereubu!
It is okay to mess with the Jazz master because they are funny exchanges. Today's exchange boardered on tastless a little more (the word twat was used... not by you though) than usual, but, your poise was great. What can I say other than entertaining.
Know all about getting drawn into saying something. At times it is hard not to respond. This occured a couple weeks back with Mirv. It wasn't that I was that bothered with him (I was use to his demeanor) but got sick of homophobic references. Have not seen any since so perhaps it was a good thing.
Hey, was I troll (what is a troll) for that? I am new to the Chat stuff and get confused...

Thanks, doll. I too am new and uncertain of exactly what a troll is. . .I infer that it's just some jerk who likes to go around harassing people and pissing them off. And no, I don't think you were a troll for that. I was personally appreciative. Why so many male put-downs revolve around homosexuality is just beyond me. Fear of people more fabulous than themselves, I suppose.
Congrats on the new dwelling! Par-tee! |

Was it the Tay Bridge Disaster? Or the Rev Gilfillan of Dundee?
My daughter also found Clementine very sad, but being a true Celt this has appealed to her even more. The body count in most of the Gaelic laments her granny sings is astronomical, and not only in those listening to them!
Dainty parts, eh?
Mike - you may have gathered I have very little knowledge of ice hockey! |

Tay Bridge Disaster--I love the end where he drops abandons the drama and makes architectural recommendations. And rhyming "Edinburgh" with "sorrow." Delightful!
I have Kristen Hersh's "Murdery, Misery and then Goodnight" and it's full of Appalachian murder ballads for children--I should probably drag that out and see if it toughens Z up any. :-)
Glad you're back safe Em. I'm actually going to leave the house for a while today to work on stuff because I can't stay away from this darn computer! My husband keeps lurking in the doorway, giggling at me and rubbing his forearms and chanting, "Junkie, junkie . . ." so I guess that means I should take a little break today. Sigh. I'm sure I'll find my way back online later in the day.
Peace out, ya'll! |

Maybe we need a Henhouse 12 Step Program for addicts. "Hi, I'm Emily and I am checking the Henhouse 15 times a day". |

But really, I'm just having fun here, and I can stop anytime I want.
Uh-oh. I think I'm headed for an Intervention. I can see it now: years later, my adult daughter confronting me and saying, "Mom, there were times growing up when I couldn't get close to you because you were POSTING!" Heh-heh. |

My name's Andy and I am an inveterate poster. Hope work is okay Em. And Sarah, McGonagall once played Macbeth and enraged the professional actors by refusing to die! |

Hey, where do I sign up for this 12 step group?! I need about 5 different ones for my life right now. I won't list them, I think you can all figure them out...
Anyway, hope all is well with everyone. That Macbeth story is hilarious, Andy!
Oh, and Em, I'm positively LOVING Sleater-Kinney! And glad to hear/read that you're back in Boston safely.

Yay for Sleater-Kinney, I swear they saved my life this fall. Are you enjoying any songs in particular?
Work is OK so far, but I wish I was home in bed!

Work day almost over - la la laaaaaaa...no one around now? Missed talking to you all "live" today. But I'll look forward to chatting with you tomorrow.
Do y'all have any big New Year's plans? Me, I'm hoping that drummer boy will get off his butt - cross your fingers! |

I'm going to work tomorrow - arrgghh. I will be thinking of you re Drummer Boy! Some outreach work would be just grand.
There is a massive Hogmanay (to use the Scottish term) party in Edinburgh to bring in the New Year. I never make it now we have two kids. |

I am an old lady myself - part of me would be v.happy to stay home and drink wine and watch Dick Clark drop the ball on Times Square. We'll see what happens.
God, I am so bored right now. Help! |

In the old days the Hogmanay parties were so wild that I only came to in February. I couldn't cope with that now. LA Confidential has just started on our TV... I'm sure that helps your boredom! |

Ooo, I like LA CONFIDENTIAL. Before Kevin Spacey's fame went to his head and he became an arse.
I may just hang with my friend and watch TV or something for the New Year...the past four years I have gone to see my a band of my friends, and that was fun but I think I am over it.
Only a half hour left here....ugh... |

Oh, it's been barrels and boxes of fun. SUCH a long long day. And I'll be back tomorrow for more adventures. Hurrah.
Tonight I think I might pay that drummer boy a visit. Got to bring him some Christmas cookies...and that is NOT a euphemism. |

But what is for dessert after the cookies? And will there be any appetisers? Being male, I'm not sure if appetisers are necessary (joke)! |

Andy, if you are still online, I demand in the name of the Henhouse (and as the mother of an nonsleeping unsomnambulist) that you get off the computer this instant! Sleeping children are a gift from the gods and not to be taken lightly! ;-) |
