Ok...temptation got the better of me and i downloaded one song...still going to buy the album...but it sounds...weird!? Did you ever hear the nada surf version of where is my mind? sounds like that crossed with doctor who music...good to get stoned to! And it isnt original pixies songs remixed, its actually frank black and the pale boys re-recording pixies songs. Its kinda eerie, floaty, a little bit sexual. A very different sounding sound to what i have heard lately. But i like the song i downloaded :) from now on...i shall wait...i shall wait.. |

Oh yeah, definitely weird. And of course I'll buy the album. Kind of like if the pixies were mermaids with guitars replaced by magical clam synths...and no drums? Well, at least not on this song. |

the Two Pale Boys work with David Thomas has been drumless. They stick with guitar and trumpet there so I wouldn't be surprised if Frank's recordings with them were also without drums.
Here's a bit from the Pere Ubu site about what the Two Pale Boys do (http://www.projex.demon.co.uk/pbs.html):
"Andy Diagram (Diagram Brothers, James, The Honkies, The Spaceheads) plays trumpet through radio receivers, echo machines & delays, layering sound-on-sound cascades of electronica. Keith Moliné (They Came From The Stars I Saw Them, Infidel) manipulates multiple voices, dynamic calamities, delicate whispers, and angular rhythms via a midi-guitar setup." |

Let's all speculate (is that a word?) about the tracklisting for the cd!
I would love it if Frank and the two pale boys wouldn't do the pixies songs that Frank already plays live, like monkey gone to heaven and nimrod son, although I have to admit that I wouldn't mind either. No what would be a complete blast is a cd filled with songs like the Navojo Know, The Happening, Hangwire, I've been tired. I mean songs frank would not do often

What did you guys search for to find this version of "Where Is My Mind?" I don't want to download the entire album at all, but a teaser sure would be exciting...

I know the first 6 tracks, at least the number they had next to them... so if you don't want to know, DON'T READ:
1. Monkey Gone to Heaven 2. Where is My Mind 3. Caribou 4. Into the White 5. Wave of Mutilation 6. Nimrod's Son
And I found them by just typing in frank black and scrolling through the thousands of results. I only listened to them once except for monkey gone to heaven, which I like best. |

No surprises, he apparently likes these songs. He has been playing those with catholics and solo through the years.
btw, your 'DON'T READ' was a bit, well, unusefull, I already saw the titles before I read DON'T READ.

I downloaded Where is My Mind. I only allowed myself that. I've never downloaded a song or album before it's release. Having heard this, I'm really looking forward to it's release. I'm hoping at the DIY convention he announces that after he tours North America with The Catholics (no thanks on the pixies reunion) he will go on tour with the Two Pale Boys.
