Today's random song is Places Named After Numbers.

What do you think of it?

lyrics

Beyond below above
A gravity that slumbers
At the center of
Places named after numbers
A different kind of love

She was right
She was right there
She was right there all the time
Collapsing all the way

And though it seems from here
That she was never there
Light beams disappear
Into her blackened hair
I wonder if they reappear

She was right
She was right there
She was right there all the time
Collapsing all the way

gracie

The intro to the song is amazingly catchy in a sort of warped, off-kilter midi or synthy way. And the song itself is, in my opinion, definitely above average for Frank, both melodically, lyrically, and musically. I can safely say it's one of the best songs he's ever written.

Yeah I love it, for some reason I always think it's about Kim Deal, which is of course bullshit. It's got nothing to do with her, but sometimes I like to think songs are about big subjects like breaking up the pixies and stuff, kinda like his divorce record (SMYT, I mean).

But it's about black holes after all, real nice lyrics and melody
the intro is kinda cool, but doesn't have anything to do with the song, it almost could have been used in another song. This is the only time I find FB sounding like Queen

Yes.

In fact, I have an entire 1993 soundboard show that I'd like to put up, but I never got a reply from the FTP moderator.

RAMONA'S mistaken? You're so ripe for parody, floopy boy!

Luckily, I'm not debating with you anymore as I thought we had agreed to let you yellow fellows get away with calling the orange album yellow in exchange for peace.

the only thing that's ripe around here are the lovely yellow lemons on the tree in my backyard.

i love the way they glisten, shimmery yellow goldenness..

is there anything more perfect than the color yellow?

Ramona hasn't even posted on this thread. :) You're getting paranoid. Don't be yellow. Stand up and show the world your oranges.

you want to know something vaguely amusing? go to Google and do a search for "orange album", which i did because i was curious if there was actually an orange album out there (as i expected, there isn't - who would want their album to be orange?)..

anyway, do the search and see what comes up.

Well, there's the heavily respected Simpsons' Yellow Album out there already...

Wouldn't want to get confused.

Interesting note: Searching for 'orange album', Frank Black is in the top 5 results.
Searching for 'yellow album', Frank Black appears in about the fifth page of results.

And where is apl when she gets called out? Probably off conspiring with Sir Orange Julius to take over the world and cover it with ORANGE plastic ala Christo. Then the Orange Inquisition will begin. All lemons made into lemonade, and dyed PINK. No, scratch that. Orange! yeah.

HA!

But don't ask me, I wouldn't know. What do you think ramona?

funny.

it is interesting though, don't you think, that there aren't any actual "orange albums" out there.. ?

i could be going out on a limb here, but maybe that's because orange is.. well, lame?

Heh, floop, you're so trying to draw me into another debate, and I think our dear colleagues would appreciate an apology to the purveyors of orange and a promise that orange's little sister, yellow, not be brought up until Frank finally makes a yellow album. :)

It is interesting that there is no orange album officially titled as such on a more serious note... very interesting.

me? try to draw you into a silly debate? hardly...

and what need would there be anyway? there really is no debate..

please though, let's be fair and not stoop to petty insults..

yellow is hardly orange's little sister since orange is a secondary color while yellow is, proudly, a primary color. http://www.netwrite-publish.com/color4.htm ..

but that's all in the past.

Does anyone know any places actually named after numbers? All I can think of is Seven Sisters in London. And Two-cson.
