Today's random song of the day is Men In Black
What do you think of it?
lyrics You believe it, you better I got their number Classic camcorder I saw everything
Dinner plate specials The shapes of cucumber I'm going to the papers I am going to sing
In the cool, cool night And in the middle of the day
I'm watching my back I'm waiting my visitation From the men in black Are they grey or is it my own nation?
It's been a good year It's been a good summer I wait for the door or that phone to ring Our little race
I don't want to fall So just in case I made you a copy And I put it in the mail
You believe it I got their number Classic camcorder I saw everything |

Probably the best COR song, in my opinion. I think I prefer the Headache EP version but I don't know why exactly. Maybe because Frank sings it like Joe Strummer.
Nothing to add - for once the lyrics are quite explicit...

This is easy, Will Smith, Tommy Lee Jones and a whole buncha special effects! I think Will Smith co-wrote this tune. |

My favorite part of this song is the "HUH!" at the end (after the last "I'm watching my back!"). I always have to wait for it and rock out when it happens. Hooray! |

Same here! - that part hits me like lightning, and I get a big cheese-eatin grin right after I've yelled along with it, usually accompanied by a little head-banging or foot-stompin....dangerous driving music. |

The best bit is the 'ooh-ooh-ooh's. No song is really complete without some of that. Incidentally, FB's biggest solo hit in the UK: no. 38.

In fact Frank wrote this song in 1994 - the film wasn't even written then.

The COR version intro is way better than the Headache EP version. The COR version just gets me ready to Mosh but not pass the guy, while the EP version seems lacking. Though I do like 'em both. I just love the tom rolls in the COR version. |

Hands down one of Frank's best, and I so wish he would start playing it on tour again. (btw, the headache ep version is better imo) |

I owned the Headache version first and it never grabbed my attention. The COR version gave me goose bumps the first few times I heard it. Much much better. |

My favorite take on the classic conspiracy theories about those pesky Men in Black is one which hypothesizes that they're really those (even peskier) grey aliens. There are some stories about the Men in Black showing up in totally antiquated vehicles and clothes (hats and all), spouting colloquialisms and catch-phrases from the 50's. The only logical conclusion here is that they are really the meddlesome Greys who have not quite grasped the intricacies of our perpetually evolving culture.
Much like those aliens from the movie, "Signs". They were able to master intergalactic space travel and technology light years beyond our own, but could not solve the riddle of the simple doorknob. Thank God Braveheart put them out of their misery.

For those who don't know it - the MIB made their first appearance in the book "They Knew Too Much About Flying Saucers", by Gray Barker, in 1956.
For those who like puzzling, frightening books - read this one (as Frank obviously did)...

Pour les french fans: ce livre vient - enfin - de paraître chez nous ("Ils en savaient trop sur les soucoupes volantes", Presses du Châtelet), avec une excellente préface, très érudite. |

Thanks for the reference, Frog! Most of the reviewers on amazon tend to give it a horrible rating due to their dissapointment that the author later revealed it was mostly hoax and fiction, but this reviewer gives a little insight into the content (I like that (s)he mentions Lemuria - more "info" on that is good for me):
" Considering the reputation of the author as a bold-faced hoaxer, this book is still considered to be the one that started it all-Flying Saucers, Men-in-Black, Lemuria-it's all here. Although many current researchers and Roswell-philes may be quick to discredit and sweep Barker under the carpet, They Knew Too Much is still an integral part of the canon." |

Wouldn't it be interesting if the song oracle was really FB? If I were him, I would definitely do something like that for fun and that way not get harassed by all the well-meaning fans ... |

Well said. I'm not really a UFO/MIB specialist, but I tend to agree with this reviewer.
Thanks apl4eris, you're definitely adorable.

My favorite part of that song is definitely "it's been a good summer", sounds like "he was a good man".
But can anybody explain me what it has to do with the rest of the song.
However, my favorite song of the COR is Kicked in the taco, with this terrific ending (which is different from the rest of the song, so typically FB) "you got my message of love, you got my message, you got my message of love-euh" (and this euh is much better then the huh from "i'm watching my back huh").
Frog, merci pour "Ils en savaient trop sur les soucoupes volantes", je vais essayer de me procurer l'ouvrage en question le plus rapidement possible. Dans le même genre, signalons "Le matin des magiciens" de Bergier/Pauwels.

That's because they only use card keys on their planet.

I thought that was Hamlet!
MIB is one of Frank's best songs, by the way. It totally rocks my ass off.
I threw up in English class while watching a video where Mel Gibson talked about playing Hamlet. I don't think there was any connection, but who knows?
