To get back to the topic, I don't think Places named after numbers is only about black holes : the black hole is here an obvious symbol relating to a vagina...
"Light beams disappear Into her blackened hair I wonder if they reappear"
This sounds a little bit like "Down to the well" with Frankie giving us a little insight into his genuine fear of women....

it is really a very goog song. aren't black holes sometimes just named after numbers ? i mean, i know this of galaxies, stars, or asteroids; you know, like 'AF-987-XY6'. maybe there is an astronom on this forum who can support this.
again, the vagina/black-hole reference, if it is "meant" so, would be just another double-meaning, like Salvador Dali used it for his pictures. |

One of my very favourite FB songs. It makes astrophysics sound like romance. Greatness.
This makes me want to listen to the Very Obviously Yellow Album (or whatever we're supposed to call it here) very badly NOW. And I ain't got it here. Sad = me.

The problem with catalogue-ing blackholes is that they tend to be detected as X-ray sources in the first place and only pinpointed as blackholes after further investigation (unless you're an astronomer who is specifically looking for blackholes)...nonetheless pretty much every exotic astronomical phenomenon has a name that is 90% numerical. |

"Places" would be in my all-time Top Ten; really atmospheric and thoughtful, and I love the intro. |
