It'd be interesting to see which albums a bunch of people have listed.
The popular albums seem to be:
Spoon - Kill The Moonlight
Smashing Pumpkins - Mellon Collie
And bands with no consensus on album of choice that have several mentions:

Not comprehensive, but interesting so far...
