I haven't seen that episode. How was it? The cream and ketchup? Alone? With a spoon? Who says catsup? Why do people in the UK like their fries with mayonaisse? Which brand ketchup do you prefer? Heinz 57? Aaaaurrggh!!
Oh man, that reminds me - I finally saw "The Manchurian Candidate" this last weekend.

We don't! I think that is popular in some Scandinavian countries.

When I visited the USA earlier in the year, I was surprised to find that compared to the UK, the USA seriously lacks variety in crisps (chips). I think most of Europe is pretty much the same too. The most exciting flavour in France that I could find was Salted.
In the UK we have flavours such as: Salt & Vinegar, Cheese & Onion, Smokey Bacon, Spring Onion, Beef, BBQ Beef, Chicken, Baked Bean, Prawn Cocktail, Worcester Sauce, Ready Salted, Plain, Tomato Sauce, Sausage & Tomato, Doritos, Monster Munch, Scampi Fries, Sensations etc. Plus we have more flavours of Pringles than you get in the USA. Have any of you Americans tried some of these? If so what did you think?
The chocolate situation in the states isn't that much better either come to think of it. Awful lack of variety. But that said, they do have a chocolate and peanut butter thing going on.

I filled a cup with cream and ketchup, that's all.
Yes Heinz is the shit! I've got a tank with 11 litres of Heinz, it's made for the fastfood business, but we know a place were you can buy it for personal use.
But actually I like al the ketchup's Doesn't Heinz have different flavours for different countries?
Mayonaise on fries? Yes! But it better be the dutch one In england and belgium they have other mayonaise well you know you would have to taste it over here. When it comes to fries, belgium and holland are the top of the bill.
I mean you can't call the Mcdonalds and Burger King ones fries It's more like fried paper.

I had a bloody hard time finding different flavours of chip in the UK and the rest of Europe. Very interesting. Lots of great chocolate though.

Your experience with chips in the U.S. might be related to the region you were in, because I see about a hundred different varieties at my local supermarket. Some of the ones you've listed I haven't seen, tho. I've seen some really nasty ones too, like Ketchup flavored, Steak n' Onion, Vinegar & Salt, and a whole crapload of others. I mostly just stick to my Lays brand Barbeque and Snyder (of Berlin, by what the label says, but really Snyder, Kentucky) Jalapeno flavored chips. Mighty tasty.
Anybody ever eat chips on a salami or ham sandwich? |

Love chips on a ham sandwich. Used to put fritos or doritos on a turkey sammich, too. Tasty!
In 7th grade, a boy next to me was eating chips during science class, and offered me one. It was vinegar and salt, and I had to spit it out. How cruel.

Kentuckian, born and raised, here (Louisville). I sure do miss it. I do hear Tennessee is beautiful, as well.
Speaking of KY, anybody ever had Ale81? Man, that has got to be one of the best caffeinated beverages ever.

My dad lives in a small town called Mt. Vernon, in KY. He teaches college at Louisville. In KY, I've lived in Barbourville, Auxier, Prestonsburg, and Paintsville. Ever hear of any of those towns, apl4eris?
Has anyone ever had the nasty horsepiss known as SouthPaw? By default, it is Southpaw Light, and I have NEVER found regular Southpaw anywhere.

Sure, heard of Mt. Vernon and Paintsville. My husband's family is from Southeastern KY - Leslie county (near Hazard). We both dream of moving off the grid one day and living up in those beautiful mountains. The people (most, anyway) are so wonderful there. I went to college in Murray, KY, near Paducah/Land Between the Lakes...BTW, my brother's going to college in Nashville - are you familiar with the area? This is his second year there, but his first there with a car.
Nope, never had Southpaw, but from the sound of it, I guess I should be glad I haven't.

Nacho cheese Doritos are great on ham or turkey sandwiches. Also, you can make tuna casserole even trashier by putting crushed potato chips on top. Mmm.
The state fair is next week, and in addition to the crime against nature that is the deep-fried Snickers bar, I am also looking forward to Grater Taters. Basically, they just take a potato, thinly spiral cut it in one continuous strand and fry the sucker. It's like an endless potato chip. I plan to attack mine w/the spray bottle of malt vinegar and eat it in the shadows of the swine barns.
I love the fair.

I like all the different people I like sticky everywhere...
How about those deep-fried twinkies? Anyone know if they are any good? The fair is sure a crazy fun place. Although, I heard someone mention on a local talk radio station that at the Ohio fair this year, a woman who was a bit overweight was in one of those get-along scooters, with one fist full of the fried twinkies, the other a corndog, and she ran right over his foot without so much as a "Sorry!"

Peanut butter and Jelly and cheetos on white bread.
A Tall cold glass of milk to go with it.
That's my white trash lunch of choice.
I like scooping up my baked beans with potato chips and I also like to put White Castle Onion Rings on my White Castle Jalapeno cheeseburgers.
Deep fried twinkies sound scrumpdidlyumptious in a kind of, "I'm gonna have a stroke someday so I might as well enjoy this" way.
Hey, UK people.....what's up with Bovril? What IS it?

Wow mere. That's just seriously gross-arama. uhh-huhh-uh *shudder!* Weird thing is, my stepmother makes this oyster casserole every "thanksgiving", which I always avoided. I don't understand how a recipe such as that ever came into existance.
swimmer, you managed the impossible - I now have a White Castle craving. It had been years since I subjected myself to that punishment. Thanks a lot. ;)

Yeah, it's tres foul. I don't have no truck with that stepmother cooking. She also use to make some nastiness called "High Hat Tuna Souffle." I haven't laid eyes on that in twenty years, but I still remember the heaves.
I too am mystified by people who feel the need to bring oysters into the whole Thanksgiving business. Some folks have oyster dressing. Sick, sick and wrong.

I tried it and it was OK but honestly the name Joppy Sauce is as wrong as Daddy Sauce well, to me off course
