I don't think any gay people on this forum actually said they only wanted to talk to gay FB fans.
If any gay person said that, it would have been just as discriminating as a straight person saying: "I don't want to talk to any gay FB fans." Though some might disagree because gays are typically the minority so it probably seems alot worse for a straight to say the latter. But really, it shouldn't matter which is the minority or majority because either way it is discriminating.
Here is another question for gays:
Are you offended when people use the term "straight" when referring to a non-gay person? It seems like the opposite of straight is crooked, so I was wondering if that is offensive in any way.

Our resident population seems to use that term as much as anyone else, nevermind a term like 'queer'... |

oh, and in ireland, queer used to be used as an insult to anyone. that was before we realised people could like people of the same sex! shock! horror! it meant weird or something. now thats not very nice.

I certainly never said I only wanted to talk to gay people about FB. That would narrow-minded and downright stupid. I just wanted to acknowledge those among the forum that might be GLBT. I have posted plenty in plenty of other non-gay threads.

I've never liked the whole concept of a "gay" minority group. I think it's dumb enough to separate people into groups based on skin color or where their gammy is from. It seems absolutely ludicrous to have a minority group based on sexual preference. Are we going to have a minority group for sheep fuckers? Or do only majority-minority groups count? Or are minority groups only groups that were once shunned from society, but then begrudgingly allowed to co-exist with the masses? Here in the USA we have "black history month" (which is so monstrously absurd; it's like 'for this month and this month only, you mean something!') so are we to have a Homohistory month? and then a sheepfuckers month? I'm not trying to come off as crass, I'm trying to point out how odd it is that we do the lipservice of saying that we are all created equal, yet at the same time we furiously seek out new ways in which to segregate society. |

Hey blarg007, if you follow any of the media, you're typically bombarded with reasons NOT to eat meat - from food poisoning to horrible conditions for the animals to polluted waters to cardiovascular disease and cancer.
Very rarely do i see a legitimate reason to eat meat. And there is absolutely no proof that we have any physiological need to eat it at all. (Seeing as i've been vegan for 13+yrs.) |

common argument for eating meat is that no vegetables contains all nine essential amino acids, however, soy contains all nine essential amino acids, so a vegetable, fruit, nut diet with soy included offers all nutrients required by the body. In fact protein from nuts is arguably more beneficial then animal proteins as too much animal protein creates an acid condition in the blood which the body must neutralize by taking calcium from the bones. countries that eat the most animal protein have the highest rates of osteoporosis. |

Am i the only one who finds it rather offensive TII keeps using sheep fuckers with gays..?
Also, TII, i'm pretty sure many other veggies contain all 9 essential amino acids, tho in varying proportions. And i'd also guess you don't need to eat all 9 in one sitting to be healthy...the 'protein combining' idea went out of style in the 70's, tho somehow it sticks. =( |

yeah, the sheep fuckers thing is an extreme way to make your point, This Is It. I can see where you are coming from, tho. It's strange to keep pigeonholing ourselves, but it's more richly layered than that.

don't get caught up in the wording; i'm trying to symbolize the comparison of sorting people into groups based on what their sexual preferences are. Which is dumb. I made no analogy that homosexuals and sheepfuckers were one in the same, so please bring no wrath where no wrath is due.
I'm not really sure what "protein combining" means or is referring to so I'm not in a position to reply. |

I'm sure if you put a little effort into it, you could have come up with a less offensive 'sexual preference'.
Perhaps you didn't mean to allude to anything, but your choice of terms was rather poor. |

Dear Ramona:
i am laso very proud of you and your dad, there is an european movie with happy sailors and so on. there is a phrase i will remember: I am too macho because I even fuck men. well I am sure that you where brougth to this world with the same love that ypur father puts in any relationship. to all homophobics i have read. I take for granted that anyone who likes Frank is an open minded person so this is also an interesting question to talk about. I am very straight but now i am sure because i have faced sometime in my life this question. behind homophobics all i see is fear of themselves to discover how gay they could be

if I thought "will this offend somebody?" prior to every time I spoke or wrote a sentiment, then I'd be a politician. I don't want to be a politician. Besides, what makes more sense: me having to customize my thoughts to every individual person, or each individual person using a little effort to try and control their reactions to the opinions that come to them.
ONCE there was a king who had grown tired of walking on the hard ground and demanded that the grounds of the kingdom be covered with fur. His advisor informed him that this would be quite expensive and difficult to do. He provided the king with a more reasonable alternative: perhaps cut the furs to the size of the king's foot and attach the fur to the foot? The king consented to his advisor's wisdom and spared the fate of countless animals having to surrender their lives for the king's comfort. |

I support you in your sheepfuckers analogy. I understood what you meant from the get-go and never thought you were lobbing homosexuals and sheep fuckers in the same group. Some people are overly sensitive. Those people, my friend, are sheepfuckers.

I'm glad somebody understands my analogies. I don't try and bring anger and tension to the forum, I try to bring some new ideas. But if people are going to play the game of "you can only communicate to me in a very generic way or else I'll use your words against you" well then, fuck it I guess. I do actually premeditate my posts so as to try and communicate my thoughts in a way where people will be receptive without getting hung up on a word or a sentence, but I can't guarantee appeasement. So I just hope that people will understand that if you get offended, I probably didn't intend it that way. |

Dear Friends: well i have read something about sheep fuckers? well in Spain sheeps are still grown the traditional way so the flock and the herdsman are long periods of time in the mountain and nights are long and lonely, in every flock of sheep you always see one that is cleaner and better combed than the others, it is said to be the herdsman favourite, but you dont have o look at that detail, just look for the only one that is always smiling

If the sheep fuckers want a month, I say give 'em a month! Preferably a cold month when the loving warmth and comfort of a good sheep is just the thing in the harsh bite of winter's wind.

seriously though freq., what would you say if Tom Lantos (Representative for San Mateo/San Francisco district) authored a bill asserting that there should be a Gay history month where school children around the country forego their science and math for the month so they can go to assemblies and learn about Harry Hay? Where does it end? Does something have to be nationally recognized to be important? I don't think it does. Let's stop segregating society into groups and let's stop deciding that some of these groups are worth knowing about and some are not. I don't know. I'll shutup now. Time to go home anyways.
Cheers

I think public schools should teach math, science, history and basically how to support yourself. Art, too, just for some right brain action. Really nothing more. That is to say, TII that I am in agreeance with you (if I may quote uber-genius Fred Durst) But if there are events in Gay history which pertain to society as a whole and have an effect on the course of society, such as the recent supreme court decision, these events should not be excluded because of their subject matter.
