Can we start a separate section of the forum called "CanuckChat" or something?

True. There's not enough hours in the day for me to get everything I want to do done...yet, if you've read the times at which I post, you may get the impression that I spend alot of time on this forum.

I would imagine that there is a large time difference between the U.S. and China, but depending on where all these Canadians live up north of me there shouldn't be much time difference at all, not more than three or four hours. Okay. If anyone notices, it is indeed like, after 6 a.m. when I am making this post...good night, everyone.

I'm not sure if you're serious or not, but we actually met people in Seattle who asked us, "What time is it back in Canada?". Seriously. We had them convinced that when it was night in the US it was day in Canada. Smart young men.
Timezones are parallel north-south strips of land divided by a certain amount of degrees (15?), so obviously any time difference between the US and China would be the same as between Canada and China. The sun doesn't backtrack up here. Yet. Where we live, we're in the same zone as Mexico and for my Ameri-centric friends, Denver (during the winter). Dave is probably 2 hours behind us and in the same time zone as LAX. And so on... |

Cult of Frank, I'm not quite sure what you're saying... I know that time zones run vertically. Being in Tennessee, I'm saying that someone in western Canada would be a few hours earlier than I am. Canada's a big place. The people directly north of me are the same. I realize that. But someone on the west coast of Canada would indeed be the equivalent of someone on the west coast of California, and I know that California is three or four hours ahead of me. Get it? I didn't say that EVERYWHERE in Canada is three or four hours ahead. I think where I went wrong was not specifying that I meant Canada and Tennessee, not Canada and China.

Ahhh... I see what you were saying. Also, I notice that I said LAX instead of LA as I meant to... very strange. I've been flying too long, I guess. |

Back to the original topic of hamburgers, are there any comparable restaurants in Canada to Krystals or White Castle? They are these little, steamed burgers, with mushy, greasy buns that have like, some kind of animal fat or something dripping off the bread. My grandparents used to take us there when we were young, but nowadays I can see them for how disgusting they actually are. Much like Taco Bell. People tell me: "If you knew what was actually in Taco Bell's food, you wouldn't eat it." And I'm like: "I know. That's why I don't want to know what's in Taco Bell's food." I have actually tried to eat a little bit healthier recently, shying away from really greasy stuff. But I think I would have a ways to go before becoming a vegetarian. I guess I just got that way after a lifetime of eating meat.

Nothing really comes to mind, but just because I haven't eaten at a place like that (although McDonalds isn't that far off) doesn't mean that it doesn't exist up here. |

a year ago i ate nothing but meat, now it's quite the opposite. It actually takes very little getting used to, you just have to give it a shot. As for the moral implications, one way or another you have to get used to the fact that to survive, we must consume. Plants are no less living organisms then animals. My reasoning for eating vegetables vs meat is that by eating meat, your nutrition comes from what that animal ate, so why not cut out the middle man and just eat what the animal ate in the first place?

Hey that is one of the most convincing arguments on this forum. For shame dave noisy.
We have the White Spot restaurants here and no joke their sauce is called the Secret O sauce. I don't think I'll be eating there too soon. |

Secret O sauce? That is freaking nasty. A couple months ago I was at Kelsey's (for those who are Kelsey's deprived, think TGI Fridays) with my sister. Normally I'd pass on crappy Kelsey's, but my sister's frind waitresses there, and she suggested we try their new salad dressing because it was so darn tasty. I declined but my sister accepted, but her friend wouldn't tell her what was in the dressing until after she tried it. So my sister tried it and liked it, and asked what was in it. "Bacon drippings and mayonaise". I almost threw up. And it looked sort of like a "secret o", if you know what I'm saying. Still makes me ill to my tummy. |

I've seen the White Spot, out there on Calgary Trail, no? Southside? I don't get down that far south in E-town usually, my sis lives downtown. But when we went to Ikea (at it's old location), I remember seeing it. Or maybe that was a different time. I can't remember. E-town is too huge. |

No, I haven't visited the new Ikea, but I saw it when it was under construction. If the population of Monrovia ever needs a place to hide from its soon to be deposed despot, may I suggest putting them all in this monolithic building? Jeepers H. Crackers it's massive. |
