I saw this fucked-up movie when I was little, called "The Mosoleum:" it was a total B-Grade ripoff of the Excorcist. But being that young it scared the shit out of me. This woman's boobs turned into little monsters, for Christ's sake! Her boobs!!! And then this one woman got raised up in the air, by the demoness who was wielding Satan's power, and her chest got split open, and all this nasty gore came out, but because the effects were so low-budget it looked like grape jelly. Mostly I was scared of being possessed by a demon when I was little, instead of ghosts or monsters, because my mom's one of those people who think Ouija boards and D&D are dangerous. Demon possession, according to her, was REAL, whereas Chucky, Freddy and Jason were not. So therefore, she'd let us watch these stupid demon possession movies like the Excorcist and the Omen, like they did anything but scared us. Oh well. Since then I've gotten quite used to being possessed by a multitude of demons, all the time. They're quite helpful sometimes to get me what I want.

Oh yeah, one other thing:
Steven King, especially old Steven King, can be quite disturbing. In order of scariness, his novels are:
1. Needful Things - When I was 12, I read this book, and could really identify with Brian Rusk, the main character who was also 12. Brian ended up shooting a hole through his head, quite unexpectedly, and it made me depressed for like, two weeks.
2. IT - Just the sheer magnitude of this volume describing the horrible, fucked-up things that happened to these people was scary...not too many other writers could've pulled it off. The movie, however, sucked ass.
3. There was a short story in "Four Past Midnight" but I can't remember what it was called. It was after "The Langoliers," but before "The Library Policemen." I imagine there's only a couple people reading who might know that one.
4. The Shining - Books are usually scarier to me than movies, this is no exception, although Jack Nicholson did a good job acting.
5. "Pet Semetary" was kind of scary. The movie was not, except for that horrible sister with spinal menengitis, named Zelda.
I know there's others...I've never read any of the "Dark Tower" trilogy (or whatever it's up to now) so I might be missing out.

The Omen, The Exorcist, Hellraisers, Friday 13ths, Evil Deads, Gothic. Guilty pleasures being Children of the Corn and Witchboard.

I started watching them with my dad when I was about 5. Other than having my closet checked for Jason from time to time, there was no trauma. As for a proper age... parental involvement makes all the difference, IMO.

The new movie, Freddy vs. Jason, is like "Bride of Chucky" in that it is simply trying to cash in on another facet of these characters. (I hate to give them the compliment of saying they are multi-faceted, but...) The first three, or however many Chucky movies there were, were supposed to be scary. And, for us that were young when they came out, they were. "Bride of Chucky" was just meant to poke fun at the sheer ridiculousness of the originals, and to make a mindless, entertaining movie. Freddy vs. Jason is probably made solely for the special effects, and some movie exec. probably always thought, "you know, I always wondered who would win in a fight between Freddy Krueger and Jason..?"

By the way, who does everyone's money go for? My bet's on Freddy. Hope they won't wuss out and not have a definite winner. Pinhead from Hellraiser would make mincemeat out of both of them. (By the way, that's another good series.)

I'd prefer Jason to win.

I thought it'd be better if they would've used Michael Meyers.

I just watched that Rob Zombie House of 100 Corpses. That guys got some serious issues. That's a perfect example of what I was saying before about how detrimental it is to mix sex and violence like that. The images moves so quick that it almost becomes one and the same. He sucks plus it was a total Texas Chainsaw ripoff.

CANDYMAN- I would never say that in front of a mirror
Just the first ten minutes of CHILDREN OF THE CORN scared me too much when I was a kid to watch the rest.
Sam Neill in EVENT HORIZON
The movie that scared me the most when I was a kid was AMITYVILLE II: THE POSSESION and when I saw it again last year it was still pretty creepy (my friend got to see the house and I'm very jealous).

Although It Is Three Days Later, Yes, Carolyanna, No One Saw This Movie.

Hey Jimmy, Is Amityville 2 The One Where The Brother Sleeps With His Sister? That Was Some Sick Shit.

Event Horizon Was A Pretty Fucked Up Movie, It's True. I Didn't Buy The Part About The "Dimension Of Evil." Alaso, (My Own Word) It Was Stupid That Their Spacecraft Had The Words "Event Horizon" On The Front Of The Ship. If I Had To Think Of A Sci-Fi Movie Scarier Than "Event Horizon" Then "Aliens" Would Definitely Be Ahead Of The Former.

Well, Goodnight, All.
