If I may say so, it is simply a crime that John the Revelator hasn't been recorded on an album. With the possible exception of 'In Heaven', it is the best cover Frank ever did. |

Harris, The only time I've ever heard mentioned that FB played The Cult of Ray was back in '96 at an in-store at McCabe's Guitar shop, sans catholics. Has he ever played it "plugged" with a full band? If so, when, and if not, why the hell not? I hope it's not b/c FB dislikes the song...I'd say it's arguably his best song ever. I bet it would kick ass with some slide steel and you guys' new flavor of late. Thanks for your insiders' slant, -FranknWeezer |

"Some Things", an Angst cover, hasn't showed up on an album AFAIK. Neither has "Angst", a tribute to Angst. "Coming Into Los Angeles", "Sister Isabel", "Dirty Old Town", and "Shrimp Song" are a few more...

Are you 100% positive they never played Angst live? I swear they have sometime in recent years. Angst was recorded for SSMVGD. Sister Isabel was recorded during the Peel Sessions with Teenage Fanclub, as well as for SSMVGD. You're right about the others. |

I believe he was saying Angst hasn't been recorded; not that it hasn't been played live.
I saw him play Angst in Santa Barbara at Rocks. |

Getting late here in Beverly, MA and I didn't thoroughly scan the previous messages. Though, I heard Frank and the Catholics play Southbound Bevey, and I have a VHS of the Pixies playing Amnesia (may not count, yes it was with the Pixies). I would make a decent wager Frank and the Catholics have not played Pray for the Girls live. "last night I had the strangest dream ..." Love, comatose22 |

Hello miked. I don't know about 119 Years or Jewel, but I know Chinese Fire Drill was on the Mike Watt album "Ball-hog and Tugboat". A very good album with the likes of J. Mascis and others. I saw Watt thrice, and talked to him one on one and I mentioned I was a huge Frank Black fan and Watt agreed that Frank is a talented artist. Watt is a cool guy. I shared a fat stogie with him, a great moment in my life. "never ever say old man, to the old man ..." love, comatose22 |

No shit? The Pixies playing Amnesia? Are you 100% sure this is correct? They definitely played Southbound Bevy...I've seen it with my own eyes. |

Angst has definately been recorded. Not recorded live from a show. But there is a studio version.

No, if you re-read, what I'm saying is that all of those songs have been played live but not released on an album. FWIW, I don't consider anything on SSMVGD to be officially released as Frank did not officially release that album.

FB&C should play more COR tunes, I'm listening to that album alot at the moment and has to be in my opinion Franks most underrated album, I love to see them play COR, Dance War, Creature Crawling, Last Stand etc etc. Ive seen them play Men In Black and The Marsist back on the 2001 DITS tour but they do not seem to dip into that album much (possibly due to the poor reception it got when it was released).
COR is a great album!!!!
War....... Its Fantastic |

Thats weird that Southbound Bevy was played by the Pixies at one point.... mind you so was Hang Onto Your Ego, and that turned up on the first Frank Black album. Does anyone know how much of the first album was written when the Pixies were together and if they ever played any of the songs off of the first album live?

COR is awesome...every time I listen to it, it makes me wish that FB&C would include those songs in their sets more often. It rules! and who ELSE is going to play the fucking songs? That's right, no one. So play em! |

I cannot understand how alot of FB fans think COR is a pile of shite.... I would agree that it takes more time to get into than the other albums but once you get into it I would say that it is as good as the rest of them.
.... another thing I cannot believe is how Frank is ashamed of Dance War.... classic tune!

Dance War is excellent, I love it...Frank is ashamed of it? He should be...erm...ashamed.
I have to admit that COR took a while to grow on me, but I consider it one of the strongest albums now. I always keep coming back to it for more... |

I have never heard him play Everybody Got the Beat. I do believe that I have heard him play a lot of the songs that people are listing. I have seen FB and the C's four times. I don't remember anything for certian, except that I have never heard that song. |
