Why hasn't the man put out a live album yet? We all know what a lifechanging event a Catholics concert is, with a cornucopia of songs spanning the 15 plus genius career of Frank Black.

nonetheless....the spirit of a live performance in front of an audience is quite different. as many people in this room who have either been to a show and/or have a taped show....FB&Cs are quite the great live act. Guitar solos are always a variation from the albums and the tempo is a bit different. I Heard an amazing version of 'Monkey Gone to Heaven' a la dueling pedal steels and an explosive "Six-Sixty-Six". Although i have access to taped versions of shows...they are not that great in terms of quality.

*****I've noticed that Frank has had Matt Yelton on the soundboard for the past few tours, maybe it wouldnt be a bad idea to get him to record the shows from a tour or two and compile the best of...as is the M.O. of most other acts....and put the sucker out....a two-disc set....i'd buy it, cherish it, and recommend it to friends***********
...if you agree with my plea, make it known...please....

I'm actually not totally big on the compilation live albums culled from all sorts of different shows. Though it's more consistent, and you get all great performances, I prefer a one night concert when the band is really hot to a compiled best of...flows better and has a vibe of its own.

I'm with itchload on this, a culled live album is a cop out. A single night live album is a historical document that captures a moment.

Yeah, I think Frank should prepare some special songs, and do maybe three nights at one really good venue (maybe the Bottomline in NYC, or the Paradiso in Amsterdam, or something like that), and pick the best night.
