I like the Letter From Memphis instrumental. I like all the Pixies instrumentals, the ones on the B Sides disc are all great.
I'd have to say my least favourite is probably "Bird Dream of the Olympus Mons" I don't dislike it, its probably the most ignorable Pixies song I can think of though. |

Silver...Havalina...The Navajo Know... Those always seemed liked the weakest tracks on their respective discs to me. There are no bad tracks on the first two records or Ep's. The track for the Rubiyat comp. was not all that hot either... "do you have another opinion" |

Ahhhh!, Silver is a beautiful song(listen to Palace Brothers and Will Oldam) and I've always thought that since I first heard the Pixies a good while ago. What annoies me is the Bossanova version of Down to the Well, it's totally over produced ,compared to the origional with Charles superior screaming chorus being cleaned up, and the pling plony noise added in which I really do'nt like. I have alot of problems with the harsh eighties sounding drums on Bossanova but apart from that everything Pixies is briilant! The live version of Into the White on DTTP is amazing for Kim's voice and the great bass.

Down to the Well. Yep, it definately blemishes Bossanova. I find Bossa to be the Pet Sounds of the Pixies. I heard that Francis wrote that record in the studio. All the songs have a very different direction lyrically on Bossa except DTTW. |

Into the White is one of my favourite Pixies track, I fail to see how one could dislike it. Its like a blistering missile flying through the sky at tremendous pace. So to speak. |

I always skip Vamos. When I don't, I think it's an ok song but compared to the rest of come on/surfer, it's very weak.
Also not a big fan of the verse of Dancing the Manta Ray. |

Poor Silver, it gets such a bad rap. It might be my least favorite Pixies song too, despite teh awesome slide guitar and the great ending. I think it would be a much better song if Frank and Kim didn't sing in such a whiney voice. Frank should have gone for either his croon (which he actually hadn't fully discovered until Bossanova, so maybe that wasn't a possibility) or his angelic "In Heaven, everything is fine" voice. In that case, I think the song could have been much more successful. |

Interesting comments all....Just shows how hard it is to find a "bad" song in the entire catalog. I like all of them, it's just there's a few I need to to be the right mood for. |

But seriuously, Bailey's Walk is horrible. Joey's guitar part is the only thing interesting on it. |

MikeW.....yeah, Bailey's Walk is pretty crappy save for Joey's lead work. that is the only thing that makes it even listenable. I have to say that Stormy Weather is not a bad song, just very repetitive and it simply doesn't get me going like 99% of Pixies songs do. 'Into the White' is excellent, i can't believe people called that the "worst" Pixies song. I like Silver quite a bit, not the best but DEFINITELY not the worst.
My least favorite Pixies song, the so-called "worst" in my ears....Tony's Theme. that song SUCKS!!!!!! |

re: silver there is an interesting demo version of this that the breeders recorded pre-pod... it's not very different, but i like it quite a bit better than the doolittle version...but maybe thats just cause it sits better with the pod-era breeders songs that with doolittle-era pixies songs...
no slide guitar - only acoustic, violin and bass....think just kim's vocals work better on this song than kim and franks....
ya can get it from the noaloha.com site... along with the rest of the demo.... http://www.noaloha.com/breeders/download.php?item=273
now, re: least fav pixies song... the navajo know.
additionally...watched the brixton academy vid the other day for the first time in years....fucking good...can't wait for the dvd to come out....fuck it'll be good. |

Not a big fan of Vamos either. Silver took a long time for me to get but I know think it is incredible.
I love Stormy Weather. It just reinforces Franks brilliance. How many people can write a song using the same line over and over and it never gets tired. Some great guitar work in that song as well.
Too be honest Monkey Gone To Heaven is one of my least liked Pixies songs as well.
I got me so down I got me a headache. |

I don't like Monkey or Wave of Mutilation either.
And about writing simplistic songs, he mentioned that in the Washington Post article I posted. He mentions "There Goes My Gun," but you could use Stormy Weather as well (both songs are excellent). I think he attributed it to the Beatles' "You Know My Name (Look Up The Number)" which he lists as one of his favorite songs. |

Stormy Weather is not one of my favorites either. Now for Vamos, it is one of my favorites. I like the Surfer Rosa version the best and the one on Death to the Pixies is good, too. It's an excellent concert song. |

Baily's Walk is like one of my favorite Pixies song! a top 5 song! I really dig it. "BAILY! BAILY!"
I really dislike Veloria. Such an irritating melody 'My Veloria/Even I adore ya/my veloria" hate it.

Wild Honey Pie is such a rockin song, it's a great way to start off the BBC Sessions! If I had to pick one song for definite, it would be All Over The World, but it's still great music all the same.
