I hate to say it but I can't get down with most of the bands being thrown into the fray here. I don't particularly enjoy anything mainstream that's been released in the past few years. As for my own taste, it only points to one band that emerged in the last 4 years, Crooked Fingers. Archers of Loaf frontman Eric Bachmann's return to music in the year 2000. There's my vote. A very well deserved one at that, for a band destined to be overlooked by many.

I'm fine with a night out in Leeds too - how spectacularly convenient for me! What night are they playing - can't find details anywhere and for some reason I'm nervous that they're playing the same night as my beloved 80s Matchbox - please tell me I'm wrong?

I´ll look for it. I´m always surprised when I listen to new bands with that sound! I think I´m old fashion, I much prefer to listen to those bands that I used to listen back when I was teenager...I guess I´m just getting old!
