I don't know... there are so many good ones... the Pixies are way by far my favorite. I guess I would say Outkast. |

I can't agree with the Strokes, but the White Stripes may have won me over - I don't call myself a fan, but I think they have more longevity and spark than the Strokes. I think Rated R was 2000 (?) and thats when QOTSA started taking off, so I'm happy to vote for them, I think they just ooze quality.
Other than that, I dunno... Honourable mentions to Franz, Libertines, and Hope Of The States.
So, I finally got my X-Wing |

I don´t listen much to new music...I like some, but not like the bands from the 80`s and the 90`s. But I could choose White Stripes and Mcluscky!

I second QOTSA, though they technically did not start in/after '00... their first self-titled album came out in the very late '90s I believe
I don't know if things will be the same now that Oliveri is out of the band |

I think that Josh Homme IS the brain of the QOTSA
i'm sorry, but I can't find one band that really impressed me these last years, I can't find a band with an artistic potential as important as bands like QOTSA, Radiohead, PJ Harvey, Nirvana, Pavement, Blonde Redhead... Bands like The Strokes, The White Stripes or Franz Ferdinand made good albums, but I don't think they will still be here in 5 or 10 years, I don't think they have the ability to try something new, the only ones that I could quote are Interpol or Elbow

Ooh, I got one. I think M83 are my personal favourite, they're definitely post-'00. Whether they're the best band, I don't know.

Most of you here have no idea what you are talking about. You are too stuck in the past. Trust me, great music is being made right now as we speak. I hate this attitiude that anything modern is automatically worse than what has gone before.

I'd have to say The Unicorns. Who will cut our hair... is one of the greatest albums I've heard in years. Their earlier albums and their new EP 2014 aren't shabby either. Oh, and I also really like the New Pornographers, been meaning to check out A.C. Newman's solo stuff.

Definitely the New Pornographers, no doubt about it! And one of the best bands of all time for that matter.

Uh, the White Stripes used to open for Pavement like 8 years ago, so you didn't do your research.
I think the strokes suck.
I can't think of an answer either.

Little Hoover's Band was popular in the 1900's.

Do I even know any bands that started that recently? I guess I'll also go with the New Pornographers, although I actually thought their first album came out in the late nineties. I guess it makes sense that it was more recent than that, though.

Hi,
It was so tough becasue as of late there have been many good bands with promise. There are also many that have been listed, such as the Libertines that I have not listened to. So, this vote might not be the most fair.
However, I am voting for the Shins. I changed my mind. I just found out they did a McDonald's commercial. They're still a great band, but now I can't vote them as my favorite. Back to the drawing board :)
I don't know if it counts, but my husband votes for the Strokes. He thought about it for about 8 hours!

I shall crawl out from under my rock to state that mclusky are the best band of the 00's and have released the best album of this decade, so far.

British Sea Power! The Arcade Fire! Oh, and I agree with the many who have suggested the New Pornographers. Edit: almost forgot Sigur Ros. |

yes, but you can only pick bands that started in the 00's, so they don't count. and the Sophtware Slump was out august 99 over here.

Crooked Fingers! You know, Eric Bachmann from Archers of Loaf. Not enough people know Crooked Fingers. They kick the shit out of all the bands mentioned so far.
