I vote for Franz Ferdinand. Although I skipped all the pages of this and just voted so I am not sure if there is something I am missing...

I'd like to add Ben Kweller to the list. This boy has got it. Whatever IT is.

For examples: The Strokes, The Libertines, Franz Ferdinand, The White Stripes, Kings of Leon, Interpol, Radio 4, The Datsuns, Electric 6, The Coral, Eighty Matchbox B-Line Disaster, The Thrills, The Zutons, The Kills...
I would say the Strokes, they have good songs, ambition and I believe they can do better. White Stripes are ok but it won't last. The Libertines are my heart's fav, but I'm afraid they'll never gonna make it with all those stories
Count: Strokes :7 New pornographers: 5 5O ft Wave: 2 White stripes: 2 Crooked Fingers: 2 The Shins: 2 The Kills: 1 Electric 6: 1 80's matchbox B-Line Disaster: 1 Libertines: 1 The Killers: 1 Unicorn:1 Decemberists: 1 Bettie Serveet: 1 Franz Ferdinand:1 Ben Kweller: 1 QOTSA: 1
Edit: KingPhilbert mailed 'cause I had forgotten TarTar's vote for Crooked Finger. Contest ends this sunday!

Didn't QOTSA put out an album in 1998? I'd like to replace QOTSA with Earlimart who better fits the criteria.

If we're allowed QOTSA, go with that. If not, I'll plump for the Franz.

Are people voting the Strokes cause that's the only band they know on the list? We need a re-count.

I stopped reading after a couple of bands down. He is basing his opinions partly on looks, and as soon as a music critic does that, he loses all respect. Awful!

I'm growing to enjoy articles that just slag popular people off though, its fun. I don't agree with them necessarily, especially not with another on there, an iconoclastic-type deal criticising Joy Division among otheres, but its all fun to read. I like opinions i guess.

dunno, but some people have been bare pedantic about whether a band started in 90s or 00s. bullshit imo, because in the other thread there seemed to be a disctinction between rolling stones in the 60s and 70s. |
