I've been playing on acoustic for a while now, and I want an electric. I have $1300 Canadian for a Guitar Amp, and other necessities (About $1000 US). I was thinking of getting a Jag-Stang. I was just wondering if that's a good choice, or if I could get something better with the amount of money I have.

You could probably get a better one than a Jagstang. In my opinion, seperately, Jaguars and Mustangs not only sound better, but look better than Jagstangs.
Although, it depends what you want to sound like. Mustang pickups are a tad weak. Jaguars' are better. I've heard the humbucker in the Jagstang isn't particularly good, and most people replace it.

i've played a friends jagstang and i agree with mislead. you probably could do better. i have a jaguar which is my fave but i definately wanna get me a tele. whenever i see a jag-stang kurt instantly pops in the mind, and i think it might be the only reason for some people to purchase one. there are better sounding fenders out there. if i had a choice i'd follow frank and get me a telecaster. no offence kurt.

What they said and...

I've never played the cobain guitar, but I love my 52 tele.

Why don't you do some price browsing on EBAY... just to get an idea what you can afford.

With only 1000$ I would buy a used guitar, you can get one worth twice as much as you pay for it. MY little opinion.

I was wondering if anyone knew how to install a humbucker to a Fender Mustang? I know you have to route it and everything, but I put the humbucker on and only one screw lines up because the coil was diagnol.
Does anyone know how to fix this? How do you make the humbucker straight?
Iv'e tried to find pics of Kurt playing one that has a humbucker, but his hand is always covering it or it isn't close enough to see.
Thanks

Scott

I was also wondering if I bought a Humbucker with mounting attachments can I take those attachments off?
So I would only have the 2 holes in the middle and not 4 on the outsides.

Don't get a Jag-Stang unless you're ready to make a LOT of expensive modifications.

Yeah, I don't need a big project right now, so I've forgotten about the Jag-Stang. I've gone to all the guitar stores I usually go to, and they have garbage used ones right now, so I'm going down the Santiago road(sort of). I'm getting a Japanese Tokai Les Paul. I know it's not as good as the real thing, but it's still a pretty good copy. Better than any other Les-Paul copies I've read up on.

Sorry to add to what seems like a dead topic, but I really do think Jazzmasters and their cousin Jaguars are underrated instruments. I've played both models (vintages and reissues). I didn't like the Jag-Stang I tried nearly as much (it watered down many of the Jaguars best characteristics).
