Awww, I hope you're not too traumatized. I once bought my son 2 hamsters and the guy at the pet store said it would be perfectly okay to keep them together. Needless to say we got home from the lake and the big one had eaten the other one's head! No bones, no eyeballs, the entire head! Try explaining that one to your child...

Sorry about your hamster. Was it from natural causes? 3 of my younger siblings had hamsters, and they all died before their time. My gerbils met an untimely end as well.
Just remember, having a parrot is like having a relationship with a 3-yr-old child with an attitude problem for the rest of your life. I love birds, but they're a huge responsibility. They might even outlive you. My mother's cockatoo has been bequeathed to my husband and I, and she's still young yet (my mammy). Just had to share, cause we've all been edu-ma-cated in the extreme since my fam brought birds into their home.
Did you know they can get chlamydia? (airborn variety) Yeesh!

I feel your pain...
When I was a kid of about 6, my parents (together at the time) decided it was time to get me some hamsters, since just a month before my father had gotten rid of my dog because it peed on the carpet. Well what the hell do you expect when you name the thing puddles?? So we went to the pet store and got two female hamsters. I took them home and named them. P.J. and Garfunkel. So we lived happily together until one day I came home and saw a bunch of little pink squiggly things in the cage. I called my mother up to my room and she couldn't believe it either...Two females my ASS! So I had to separate the two hamsters...because the mother was eating the babies. We lost 3 of them. The end result was 5 baby hamsters...I was so happy. So my brother, sister and I played nicely with the hampsters...until my brother went on a killing spree. He killed all of my hamsters one by one...because the bit him. They can sense evil I guess. So I buried them all infront of my house, with a tombstone that read "Murdered by Sean McGill" And that is my hampster story...

My work colleague is looking to get an Argentinian Horned Frog soon. They sound so cool, they basically do absolutely nothing except eat, and you can give it live mice and stuff. How ace is that, get one of those instead.

Definitely get a parrot. That way you can upgrade from the stupidest pet to the smartest pet in one step. |

I like hamsters
Hamsters are our friends,
I am sorry for your loss
I don't mean to sound bitter, cold, or cruel, but I am, so that's how it comes out.

well if she was real hungry?
A woman I used to know had lots of foster kids and lots of pets, one christmas just as they were about to tuck into their big family roast the cat came proudly into the dining room, jumped onto the table and plonked the head of one of the kids hamsters right next to the turkey and proceeded to clean itself happily.
Cats are not the friends of hamsters
We're getting pet ratsies in my new flat, I want to call them surfer and rosa but my new flatmate will not concur

Sorry to hear . If you believe in heaven, I hope he's in hamster heaven... If you believe in reincarnation, I hope he comes back as a higher form. If your agnostic/atheist, his body will help the world create fertilizer. If you believe in the supernatural... I hope he is a cool ghost that protects you. Sorry. :( |

Most female birds are quieter but they are usually not as outgoing and less likely to talk. Also if you're concerned with noise you might not want a conure-- they have a reputation for being loud. African parrots are generally quieter. I've met some really cool little African birds (like a jardine parrot) that are in that price range. |

Sorry to hear that. I had a hamster named Hobbes when I was about seven years old. One day, when I woke up to feed him, I noticed he had some sort of blemish on his face. I ignored it, but it grew larger. I took him to a vet that weekend to find out it was a tumor. I was real upset. My parents had him put out of his apparent misery on my birthday. Some gift, huh?
I lift weights, but I don't sweat. I go for a swim, but I don't get wet. |

Do you know where the bird came from? Breed in the US? Because some are captured in the wild and that's causing large conservation problems.
Parrots = too much work
You going to take that thing off to college with you? Good luck finding a dorm room that will allow that. |

I'd advise you to get a Basset Hound. They're cute, quiet, and cute. Pluse they're really cute.

Nice and loud are two different things. You probably won't know how loud it is until you have it in your house.
I second darwin's comment. Buy a bird bred in captivity and handfed. And remember they live a long time. |

It took you 2 days to get the hamster into the ground? Was it delayed for the public viewing of the body? |
