Was anyone there?

I watched alot of the coverage on E4 and C4 (BTW, what a load of crap, braindead interviews and shite talk from Cat Deely etc all weekend ...) and didnt see the Pixies on TV.

Were they on TV?

I was there, it was an excellent set and they were on stage for around an hour and a half.

They didn't play any "new" songs, from memory it went something like this, Vamos, Crackity Jones, Where is my mind? Planet of Sound, Subaculture, Velouria, Debaser, Ed is Dead, Dead, Broken Face, Gigantic, Baby no 13, Something against you, Hey, Isla De Encanta...

Those are the ones i can remember, they probably played more.

I haven't seen the set broadcast on TV but i did see Cat Deeley and Veron Kay (English TV Presenters) interviewing Kim at the side of the stage before the set so keep your eyes peeled for that.

The band seemed happy enough, although Frank never looks that happy. As ususal Dave seemed to be enjoying it the most. The crowd was pretty wild and my ribs really hurt today.

All in all, another great show!

They were advertised to be on Sunday night on TV waited up till 1 am........NOTHING!!!!!

The preview show on Friday night even said they'd be on GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

The Radio Times (UK's leading listings mag) even had a column about them being on TV at V!!!!!

Oh well I saw Frank and co beaming huge smiles at the Forum on Friday so I'll keep that in my head instead!

i stayed up to watch it on ITv the paper said highlights of pixies strokes etc........
and what did i see?????
FUCK ALL thats what.
mind you i did enjoy laughing at them shit presenters.(im clad i have a sense of humour because this pricks are lower than low.)
then my enjoyment turned to tears of saddness as i had to painfully watch bands like THE KILLERS,THRILLS,SHITPATROL, and SHITSAILOR,by this time i was gougeing large chunks of brain from out of my ears.
So its one big load of shit AGAIN.

i hope a live pixies DVD comes out of all this touring so i dont have to watch this pap again.

good day

I was there for Chelmsford last night. They played a 70 min set - no new songs, as you’ll know from the Forum warm-up (Yee gads how did I miss that one ? crept right past me) They sounded like they were fighting a few sound problems - David ripping his earpiece off irritably, Frank getting feedback. Joey looked bored and terrified at the same time, and they started off really slow, with about 25 mins of the safe songs. Luckily after that a few fun things happened to liven it up. Kim dropping her, ahem, big cigarette, making Frank laugh while singing. Frank starting “Something Against you” at quite a pace, then David drumming at a MUCH higher tempo. The monitors showing Frank amusedly talking to David something like ….”no….no…. we CAN’T do it that fast…. Slow down…slow down… oh ok then… ok then THAT fast !” Shambolic, yes but very funny. Then another comedy moment: Cameras all on Kim as she starts talking… and people are straining to hear… she’s telling us something about being a little off the beat there… something…”oh shit!” she says and ducks out of view. She was talking to Dave I think through her mouthpiece and forgot about the bloody great microphone in front of her. Bonus comedy value! Needless to say they were easily the best act on the Sunday, though the slow start, largely indifferent crowd (well, many of them were there for the Strokes) and, I think, genuine nerves, meant that it was not a classic set by their standards. But they MUST be bored of the same songs played in the same way by now… ? It’s their choice, but you guys in North America shouldn’t hold your breath for a new pool of songs in the set-list, much as I enjoyed the “Honeycomb is a Pixies album” thread.

T.V ? Forget about it... Don't forget Ant and Dec and even the lovely Cat Deeley killed the Chart Show to make way for endless boy-band guff

Very good set at Chelmsford V Fest, they started with In Heaven with Kim on vocals, awsome! Here's the set, probably out of order but I don't think I missed any songs out, I really hope someone recorded this just to hear Nimrod's Son, Vamos and Planet of Sound, they were fucking brutal! Such a dream setlist except that they didn't play U-Mass or I've Been Tired.

In Heaven (Kim Vocal)
Crackity Jones
Where Is My Mind?
Vamos
The Holiday Song
Here Comes Your Man
Dead
Ed Is Dead
Bone Machine
Cactus
Mr. Grieves
Something Against You
Nimrod's Son
No. 13 Baby
Gigantic
Velouria
Subbacultcha
Caribou
Monkey Gone To Heaven
Wave Of Mutilation
Broken Face
Hey
Debaser
Isla De Enchanta
Planet Of Sound
Tame

i was at chelmsford V. was fantastic. i'm interested to see set list as it was a bit of an odd one i thought, the order they played their songs in...

I was at Chelmsford. Compared to Brixton it wasn't great. The first half of the set was a bit slow and the crowd weren't really into it. They let fly for the last half hour though, and the atmosphere definitely improved. I just hope thats not the last time I see them cos it was the worst performance I've seen them do, I wasn't that impressed by some of the little tweeks they've made to the songs and obviously playing outdoors to a huge audience, half of whom were only there to bag a half decent spot for the Strokes didn't help.

Please come back to Europe and do a proper tour!!

I went to the V festival (Chelmsford) and I thought the Pixies were fantastic! I really enjoyed the set. I managed to get in for free as a friend of a friend owns some burger vans and had a couple of extra staff passes! Woo hoo!!
Highlight for me was Subbacultcha as I've never heard that live before.
Lowpoint; There was a bloke at the side of me for a short time that I wanted to punch (and very nearly did) 'cos he was dancing wildly and hitting everyone around him. He was a bit of a knob, but that was the only thing that slightly marred my enjoyment.

Anyone here recognise themselves by this description; Short, fat, greying hair, English, sweaty, sings badly out of tune, and dances like a total twat?

Give yourself a pat on the back......

I was at Staffs and they were amazing, even better than at Brixton. I got pretty near to the front and both my Converse came off about half way through so I was jumping around in the mud, in my socks, with my converse in my hands, getting my feet crushed by everyone. The crowd collapsed at the front a few times so there was a bit of pulling people up (including myself a couple of times) but everyone was really into it and the atmosphere was great.

Now if I could just find my hat............

Yep, because they're better known, sell more records to the festival going public and therefore are technically more popular.

i was in weston park, gr8 show!
though, in teh forum was mych mych better
most of the crowrd just looked amazed at our buyz and girl
though, not enthusiactic enough - very few ppl actually jumped or sang the songs
except, "where is my mind"... that not-sogr8-song, that every shit knows
nevertheless, very good show
they played all the "safe" songs, only velouria from bossa, very poor. joey did the vamous robot walk and all that, crowed was very quite, i lifted my hands to make them noisy, but they were quite.. hope the pixies didn't take it too hard... in the end the crowed was very appreciting, lot of clappses
"i bleed", frank really did it well, shouting his heart out
the strokes mentioned the pixies afterwards, saying "so, did u enjoy the pixies?" a very wick response from the crowed...
dunno why he asked it, anyway, he was quite a jrek
s00ry for my english

dude, i live in stafford and to be honest us pixies fans are few and far between. this town and the others around is cheese city. these guys can only appreciate the commercial shit that V offers in the masses. i know a few friends who went to see the pixies but i can guarantee theres ten-fold that went to see the Scissor Sisters and (yawn!) Keane. because top of the pops and cat deeley told them too.

I saws loads of Pixies t-shirts at both V and Reading Festival. In fact at Reading there were more than for any other band, and they weren't even playing. And having spoken to people at both festivals, I can tell you that people are really interested to find out more about them. Trust me, their popularity is growing.

na, i was in V and got the opposite impression
they didn't even sold pixies t-shirts there
the majority will never lOVE them
they all know "where is my mind" but don't get a shit out of the other songs
pixies are doomed to be loved only by few
they will never be Nirvana
not too many people can get into that music
the majority will always be indifference to quality
as it seems obvious to us
