has anyone seen it? i just saw it last night.

i'm not familiar with THE WHOLE comic series, so, there's something i'm curious about: does Spiderman ever get laid in the comic book? i mean, the poor guy. it's like the entire Spiderman story is a metaphor for blue balls.

I just can't wait until they bring Venom or Carnage into the movies. I haven't seen Spiderman 2 yet but I've heard great things.

I don't really like action movies, but Spiderman 2 looks fucking awesome. I definitely have to see it...the first one kicked ass.

I'd put them on par with each other, though I'd have to see the first one again. It might have even been better. I know I thoroughly enjoyed both. I think this one might've been a bit more mature?

i thought the effects were better in this one. not that i'm all about movies that are about effects. but, when you're talking about SPIDERMAN it's hard not to talk about them. the effects were incredible in this. and the soundwork etc..

more mature? maybe.. even though it is a relatively simple Superhero story, it does delve into some more serious issues like free will and fate etc.. maybe more so than the first one.

Don't get your hopes up. Sam Raimi, the director, says he doesn't want to do Venom. Why, I'm not sure. I think he said something about doing the Spidy from the 70s and Venom came around during the 80s. I want to see Venom and Carnage too, but doesn't seem like it's going to happen soon. Sucks huh?

I saw Spider-Man 2 and... I thought it was a little corny. A lot of over dramatic poses and the special effects made it look bad. I mean Doc Ock's arms looked too fake. To tell the truth, the only reason I went to see the movie was to make Danny Elfman some money. I would buy the score, but I didn't like it much. I'll go see Spider-Man 3 as well, it's been announced. Why? Because Danny Elfman is doing the score. It's coming out 2007. So comic fans mark that down. That's all I know so far, Danny Elfman is doing the film score and Sam Raimi is directing again. I think the next villan to come is The Lizard because he's in Spider-Man 2 (Dr. Conner, Peter's teacher... did you catch it). So yeah... how about that new Batman movie?

In my defense... I'm just sayin'

2005 new Batman, "Batman Begins." With Christian Bale as Bruce Wayne. That's right, the blonde asshole from American Psycho is our new Batman. Hooray, I wonder how that will work. No Elfman doing the score, he did the best one too.

i think Columbia has a deal to the next 4 SPIDERMAN films.. (there were a total of 6 planned).

i don't think Danny Elfman needs the money. i like his scores, but after a while they all sound the same.

That's you, you're not a Danny Elfman whore like I am. I whorship the man and I'll see all the movies he scores. Whether I like them or not, just keep him going. Most of the movies he scores I end up loving anyway. Well except the Spiderman movies, because I was never that big a Spider-Man fan to begin with. I love Batman, mostly because he's a tortured soul like me!! But I love Danny from Oingo Boingo to now, I love him just as much as I love Senor Charles Thompson.

I think Christian Bale is perfect for the role. Is he playing Batman in the Batman Vs Superman movie?

I think it also has something to do with Marvel Comics versus Todd MacFarlane.

There's a Batman Vs Superman movie? What the fuck is with this new trend. Freddy Vs Jason, Alien Vs Preditor, is hollywood out of original ideas? Someone explain please? Is it all for merchandiseing? That's it isn't it. They want to make toys out of this.

I think the Aliens Vs Predator can be forgiven 'cos it was a comic ages ago. Plus, both filmls kick ass. I think this one is gonna be very good. I really do.

Are Batman and Superman having some sort of competition like the Decathlon or something, or are they going to be fighting each other? If they are ging to fight each other, Why? Is it going to be some sort of Republican/Democrat satire? (Batman being the Republican of course......)

I'm pretty sure Superman will win no matter what they do, unless it's a girl-banging contest, then Batman's got him beat IMO.

Yeah I was wondering the same thing. And yeah it should be no competition. Superman is the hardest of all superheros. Even if he does look a bit camp.

Yeah they should have a Superhero Olympics, that would be kinda cool.

Possible Winners:

Weightlifting - Superman
Wrestling - The Thing
Swimming - Aquaman
Biathlon - The Punisher
Snowboarding - probably Silver Surfer(?)
Daredevil would win everything in the Superhero Special Olympics.
Soccer and Baseball could be team sports played by Avengers, X-men and others.

run with it guys.....

A few points:

Christian Bale is not blonde nor was he in American Psycho. That said, I think Bale is a poor choice for Batman though not as bad as it could have been. The pictures look awesome
( http://batmanbegins.warnerbros.com/ ) and for as bad as I though Gary Oldman would be for Commisioner Gordon, it looks like he fits the part. I really hate that Michael Caine is Alfred though!

Predator sucks.

Batman v.s. Superman is a dumb idea unless they're doing some sort of "The Dark Knight Returns" thing. Even then, it was only part of the comic.

Elfman is great but he's getting pretty bad at scoring stuff. Everything is starting to sound the same. The Spiderman score is fairly generic and I just watched "Big Fish" and there were serious hints of "Beetlejuice" in it.

As for Spiderman 2: I don't think it was better than the first one but it was definately a great sequel. The basic plot was too similar to the first to outdo it, but it was a good middle act nevertheless. A sequel should be dark and oppressive with a vague ending leaving a third movie open, much like The Empire Strikes back. I was just talking to a girl at the train station about it and it really bothered her that Spidey was having trouble with his webs. I had the same issue but I guess that's really only a problem for fans of the comic.

Anyhoo, I really enjoyed it and I don't think there were any scenes more cheesy than some in the first.

I really disliked the first Spiderman, but enjoyed this one. Did anyone see Jon Stewart interviewing Spidey a few years back and recommending that he go by Irving Spiderman (SPY-der-min)? It was a comedy central bumping thing for awhile. Funny.

Saw it last night, great film, very satisfying. Spiderman was the first thinking superhero and although it didn't "make me think" it was great pulp that went beyond the usuall two dimentional backstory in big post effects movies. Saw a bit of "Evil Dead 2"(chainsaw) and "Darkman"(ruined factory/warehouse) in there - a self homage by Sam Raimi or just cannibalizing early stuff? With all due respect to the mystic knights of oingo boingo and dark outsider I'd like to very respectfully point out that Danny Elfman is a generic hack and the weak link in an otherwise airtight film. Thanks for the link realmean, maybe there will finally be a good Batman.Again with great respect for your taste, Michael Caine is one of the greats, the quiet american is an amazing film.

oh, I know he was in American Psycho. I just meant that he wasn't blonde in the movie.

I don't have a problem with Michael Caine (though I don't particularly like him) but he just doesn't belong in the role of Alfred.

Danny Elfman a hack!? I agree that he's slacking but come on:

Dick Tracy
Darkman
The Simpsons
Batman the move and animated series
Beetlejuice
Pee-Wee's Big Adventure for cripes sake!

The man does good work.

For the super-nerdy, you'll notice another "villian-in-waiting" besides Dr.Curt Connors/The Lizard. It's John Jameson, AKA Manwolf! From the worst decade in Spiderman history, the Seventies. I hope Raimi's inspiration for the tone of the movies is the Sixties issues, as it seems to be in SpiderMan 2. Loved it, saw it twice the first day, going again today. Comic geeks unite!

60s-Vulture, Electro, Doctor Octopus, Mysterio, Green Goblin, Kraven the Hunter, Rhino
70s-Jackal, Hammerhead, Tarantula, Rocket Racer, Big Wheel, Human Fly, Mindworm

I'd say it was basically on par with the first, although I did like Doc Ock quite a bit better than the Green Goblin. I haven't read any of the comics, though.

I seem to recall hearing that Batman did defeat Superman when they fought in a comic or something at one point. He probably just bought the victory, though. Money is the greatest power of all!
