Hi there I'm a singer/songwriter based in Carlisle, England, and my music is influenced by the likes of Ron Sexsmith, Aimee Mann, Nick Drake, Nick Cave, Leonard Cohen, Tim Buckley, etc.
If you're interested, you could check out my website (which has four tracks in MP3 format): www.stevemccormick.co.uk

I just wish I could find someone that makes Non-Racist Melancholic Silver Skull Rings based on Birthday Party songs.
<grumpy quip> Honestly, is it really too much to ask that someone put a little real time and effort into a forum before they post their commercials? Blah. </grumpy quip>

mmmmm..... summer.... absolutely the wrong season for acoustic melancholy.... just made me a summer compilation including ramones, iggy pop, frank black, dodgy, weezer, supergrass etc. the most melancholic song i can take right now is buzzcocks' "ever fallen in love..." . i love summer. in a not so unrelated note my new girfriend seems to appreciate that stuff too, so melancholy is completely out of the question (for the moment at least). see you in autumn, hoping that i won't be needing any heartbreaking ballads. good luck
PS: who the hell is ron sexsmith?

I don't know I've been digging the Joey Cape/Tony Sly Acoustic split recently, so acoustic stuff can fly pretty well in the summer I think. It's not exactly the Ventures though.

Acoustic is one thing, melancholy is another, Wolfman. None of your sad men here, no thank you. Not in summer, its rubbish enough as it is.

I think it was a mistake not putting Frank in your influences Greenfeld, even if he isn't, you should at least be humoring us. ;)

Well, I do really like Frank, enough to have travelled to Glasgow to see him on his last tour but I'd be a fraud if I said he was an influence as such. I think Dog in the Sand and Show Me Your Tears are two of the best 'rock' albums I've heard in years. The man is simply a genius songwriter. I just can't write in that quirky style :(
