I was first in line to see Forces of Nature in the Theatre opening night with my date. Oh the horror, the horror. |

Water World: amazingly bad, despite Dennis Hopper Space Truckers: saved only by Debbie Mazar in her underwear (despite Dennis Hopper) Titanic: I would have walked out but I was on an airplane. I swear, I think that ship was STILL slowly sinking by the time I got off the plane and picked up my luggage. The one where the trucks came alive: I think this may be the winner (loser). Except for the one with David Keith and the weird upside-down mountain full of aliens or something. And they made a sequel! My wife actually forgot about the first one and brought the second one home from the video store. I didn't even bother, and she turned it off after 20 minutes.

"face off" with nicholas cage and john revolta.
i wasn't expecting hitchcock, but it was... unspeakably bad. almost fascinating in its suckfest horror. almost.
runner up: anything with keneau reeves that isn't bill and ted.
(goes to the corner to do several rosaries in pennance for speaking ill of others.)

Ever see "River's Edge"? One of my all-time faves that Keanu happened to be in. It was made a few years before B&T. |

I saw that flick, River's Edge. I'm not sure what compelled me to watch it. I remember being very tired and falling alseep midway through. All I remember were a bunch of pre-teens stealing a car.
I lift weights, but I don't sweat. I go for a swim, but I don't get wet. |

Parenthood was truly great; but then Keanu's role was the same as in Bill and Ted. Also The Gift wasn't that hot but it proved that you can add redneck to dumbfuck and there are now two roles that work for him.

Disagree quite a bit with the mention of SPIDER above (unless you're referring some other SPIDER than the David Cronenberg movie). Disagree a little bit with the mention of CHERRY FALLS above.
My Worst Movie Ever is 200 CIGARETTES (or is it 300 CIGARETTES?). Indie film. All-star cast of sorts. Christina Ricci, Courtney Love, Ben Affleck. EVERY single scene in this movie is a shrill argument between a bunch of teen/early 20s dullards making their way to a New Year's Eve party. That's all this movie is. A lot of arguments. I guess it's supposed to be funny to hear all these spoiled trendy-types complain constantly, but instead it gives you a headache. If you like this, I don't want to know you. |

But is it as bad as The Killer Shrews? Man... The Killer Shrews was so bad. Dayum I love that movie. Not to give away any spoilers here , but the killer shrews were supposed to be genetically altered to grow bigger... and well, they showed these shrews on camera. To create the illusion of giant ravenous shrews the film makers actually shaved dogs into furry patches and called them "shrews." I was laffin' so hard I couldn't breathe.
And what's even better about it is, that upon seeing this film I decided to look up info about it on the web. As it turns out, somebody out there felt the need to memorialize The Killer Shrews by creating a lovely diorama that can be seen here:

I swear I'm gonna buy one of those some day.

I walked outta the first star wars in the second series put out. Don't know why everyone was so crazy about it. I've never walked out on a movie before, but it was a pointless waste of time, I couldnt understand what people were saying.

You're right River's Edge is a pretty good film. Two other good Keanu flicks are My Own Private Idaho and Aunt Julia And The Scriptwriter.
Betty, you're right to suspect that every Keanu movie could be crap though.

They only movies i've seen that Keneau Reeves is any good in are the Bill And Ted(he gets by just acting stupid)and Matrix movies. Actually, he's only passable in the Matrix movies because he dos'nt have to say too much, just jump around and put on a face! Boxing Helena was a pretty bad movie, although maybe intentionally so(it was directed by David Lynch's daughter). |

my top 5 of unwatchable movies:
1 - Jackie Brown (the only film ever that made me fall asleep) 2 - Chain Reaction (keanu reeves in his worst film. and he's done many bad films) 3 - The English Patient (a 3 hour tragedy. i thought that it would never end) 4 - The Wedding Planner (why a mentally healthy person would watch such trash?) 5 - Sphere (though i love sci-fi films and i enjoy even lame movies like space truckers and space cowboys this one is really terrible)
some others that didn't do it to the top5:
all julia robert films (from pretty woman to mona lisa smile, an endless horror brrrrrr...) Ghost Dog (an afro american samurai?) Million Dollar Hotel (simply horrible) Sleepless in Seattle (no comments needed on this one) You Have M@il (same as above)

Gangs of New York. It lokked really good and Daniel DL was fantastic but Lec and Cameron were awful, those irish accents were the worst i've ever heard.
Vanilla Sky- piss poor, an excuse for Tom Cruise to flick his hair and looked confused.
Sex lives of the potato men- a video rental, my boyfriends chose- really bad.
Freddie got fignered. Its really bad but falls into the category of so bad its good. I rented i twice so i could show all my friends.
There are probably loads more, which star Tom Cruise but i can't recall them at the moment.

A River's Edge, Betty, if you saw, you would know. Reeves was built for that role, but it's a Glover movie in my mind I like to watch that and Easy Rider at the same time. What's wrong with Jackie Brown? Dinero does Fonda doggy in the kitchen?> How can you beat that? Sphere sucks. And Freddy Got Fingered, winner of 7 Rasberry awards, one of the all time worst rated movies, I love it. I love Tom Greeen, few people can say that. Wal Mart fucked up and priced the DVD at 4.88$ instead of 14.888$, so I have like 6 copies still sealed if anyone wants one.
Uh, Andrew Dice clay sucks! I hate that guy.

For me, the hands-down worst movie of all time is "Nukie," with "The Abyss" a close (and abysmal) second. |

The Abyss? What was wrong with The Abyss? I saw the director's cut of it in a theater. I like what his name (played John Glenn in The Right Stuff) and drowning freaks me out so the movie was tense for me. |

Ed Harris.
My mom's high school friends did the special effects for that movie, so I am forced to like it by blood law or something.

Ed Harris is great. The Abyss was good but the end sucked a bit - that whole spaceship thing coming out of the sea. They should have kept what was down there a mystery.

Yeah, I remember liking The Abyss a lot. It's been awhile, though.
Mun Chien Andalusia, two great films are on your list of bad films. Both Jackie Brown and Ghost Dog are great pieces of cinema. I'm a huge fan of both Tarantino and Jarmusch, and these two films might not be their best work, but they're certainly not bad in any way and a lot better than most of the shite that gets released.

The ending of the Abyss sucks ass--it looks like a giant soapdish is rising out the sea. Also, Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio is the kiss of death for any film. The film is rife w/overacting (and I normally love Ed Harris) and you could predict virtually everything before it happened. My husband actually got kicked out of a showing of The Abyss b/c he couldn't stop giggling. (The same thing happened to him when we went to see "A Few Good Men.") |

When I saw Starship Troopers with my friends' family, his stepmom and stepsister couldn't stop giggling and laughing at how bad the film was. My friend and I, being 16 or 17, thought the film was pretty awesome (though it woulda been better if Denise Richards had gotten naked), so we couldn't figure out why they thought it was such a hoot. I need to go back and watch it now. I'm sure it's ridiculous.

Starship Troopers is alright if you look at it like a satire. I so hope it was intended that way.
Plus its got Jake Busey! How can you not like Jake Busey?!

It's so funny that you'd respond to me about The Killer Shrews as I actually own it on DVD. I live in Dallas, TX and The Killer Shrews is kind of a cult movie in this area because it was produced by Gordon McLendon. He was a Texas guy who built lots of drive-in theaters, but is mostly famous for being credited with inventing Top 40 radio in the 50s. His big station, KLIF in Dallas, is still active some 50 years on. It's a talk station now.
Disagreements in the thread: JACKIE BROWN I have big reservations about Quentin Tarantino, but i love that movie. I think it's his best.
STARSHIP TROOPERS It IS a satire and intentionally corny. Classic movie fans might enjoy some of the subtle references throughout. The vision of Starship Troopers is this sort of Aryan future. The movie never comes out and says this, but it seems to be set in a world where the Nazis won the war and everyone is very blond and white and smiling. Some of the Nazi-esque uniforms hint at this. |

RIVER'S EDGE is a classic. one of my fave's ..
it's to hard to say what the worst movie i've seen is, but i walked out of the Leslie Nielson movie WRONGFULLY ACCUSED after about 15 minutes. that's a record.
also, THE PILLOW BOOK, despite the excellent cinematography, was one of the more painful films i've had to watch. please show more slow motion shots of calligraphy and Ewan MacGregor's sack . thanks. |

"The Killer Shrews" is an actual movie? There's a Young Fresh Fellows song about wanting to be a B-movie star, and it has the line "Godzilla's been attacked by the killer shrews." I didn't know it was referring to an actual movie, though. I suppose I have a lot to learn in the ways of the B-movie.

Oh man. Dungeons and Dragons was awful. I couldn't believe my old roommate even rented that. I knew it was crap before seeing it, but I didn't even think it would be as bad as it was. Man, that was stupid.
