Yeah, goin to Phoenix pk, just back from London after seing their opening night in Brixton. All there is to say is to say is you won't be disappointed as long as you're not going to hear them talk and converse with the crowd. Brixton on the 2nd gave them a standing ovation when they finished and then they bowed and left the stage. That and the music they treated us to was more than value for money, never thought i'd get to see them again, but its goin to be twice in a fortnight.

Mmmmmm. Butterflies. Can't wait. Hope there's gonna be a big load of Pixies fans up the front.
The Phantom website listed their slot as 6.30 - 7.45 a while back. Whichever, it's going to be close enough to the length of a full set for them.
Just looked at a weather forecast that said it's going to be sunny and rainy. Good ole Ireland.
And where is all the criticism in the press about not talking to the audience coming from anyways? They hardly ever talked to the crowd first time round, apart from a few words from Kim. I dunno. Some people, eh?

Irish times (the ticket thing) had a front page article in it on last Friday on em.... thought it was a very very poorly written article, talk about name dropping every semi-popular pixies song, was bad.... t'was as if the author had "best of song-list" and a couple of lyrics in front of him.... "see how many song references and lyrics references i can get into my article"... t'was only about 10% his own words..
anyways, i was ashamed (maybe for him) afterward....

Yeah no knowledge of the subject seems to be a pre-requisite of music journalism these days, i mean i like music but don't have extensive knowledge of all genres but every article i pick up is littered with faults and untruths. A once honourable profession now a laughing stock. A pity really as alot of people take the words they read as the truth , so it influences the general publics opinions. I suppose that is the case in all sorts of media today. Anyway the days of buying NME and MELODY MAKER for the articles are long gone, give me the HOT PRESS any day of the week.

Even in my dreams my words get blown away

Personally, I'm anticipating one the greatest days of my life....it's soooooo EXCITING, man, a dream come true. Never thought they'd get back together. That article in the Times 'The Ticket' was'nt great, but at least they're getting some coverage-It's cool that Frank appears at the top of the Times' cover, where it mentions the Ticket section's contents. See you in Phoenix!

'twill be interesting to see how many people are there just for the Pixies. I really can't see myself hanging around after they finish - don't think there's anybody who could hold my attention after seeing them.

Can't. Fookin'. Wait.

And I'm going to be jumping around like a nut regardless of the opinions on that moshing thread. How could one not?

I don't mind the Chilis as backround noise while I’m sitting (in the sun hopefully) chatting about the great Pixies set that had just unfolded!! Unfortunately I don't think were gonna see a separate gig, I think their schedule is set in stone more or less and its pretty frantic... I also think their gonna get a decent set.. Because the gig didn't sell out and a few weeks back MCD/2fm tried advertising the Pixies as the main feature (which they are - but to Joe Public, they are not if you know what I mean) and the RHCP as support... so they know fans will be expecting a decent set.

I think that conversation is as certain as the sun rising on Saturday morning. The fact that its the only Irish date points to great atmosphere and a good long set. Long as in 20 plus songs!

Latest weather forecast thingys on the net say partly cloudy, with a high of 18 or 19. That'll do for me.
Anyone else notice how even though this was a short week, it's taking sooooooo long to get to Saturday.

I wonder will some inspector Spud Murphy types be clambering up onto the stage at any time to arrest Mrs John Murphy for smoking in the workplace?

I'm meeting a friend in Ballyfermot 'bout 3 and heading from there myself. Should be plenty of time.

Wonder if there's an un-obvious way of saying 'I'm an FB.net user' in case any of us cross paths?

If your going to be wearing something obvious, like me, state it - we can keep an eye out. If shirts had been made, as suggested, it would have made the whole thing easier.

I'll should be adhering to this: http://www.whiteninjacomics.com/images/merch/tshirt-men-pickle.gif

well i'll be wearing my 'Death to the Pixies' shirt, but so will lots of other will be too... in general i wouldn't bother wearing the shirt of a band i'm gonna see (since the very reason your in attendenace is statement enough) but i think there will be a good bit of comradarie between the Pixies fans...

Right. Hybrid - that t-shirt should be relatively eye-catching alright.

I hadn't really thought about what I'll be wearing. If I decide by tomorrow I'll stick it in this thread. Maybe a pac-man t-shirt.

I still can't believe it's only Thursday today.

I was going to have a shirt printed - only I left it too late - that said something along the lines of "I'm here for the Pixies, not the Shitty Peppers" (I would have worked on making the tagline humorous, of course).

No doubt someone will spot me in my Pickle Shirt - Your're welcome to chat as long as you arent annoying. Still on the hunt for a coach pal - I'm going with 2 other people and chances are i'll be the one sitting alone.

Edit - If you do talk to me, dont, for the love of all things sacred, call me Hybrid. My name is Andy. Expect to be leaving early if you do. Accompanied by paramedics.

I'm leaving from limerick at 06.45! On a train! Is that a bit early? Maybe.
But tell me this: is it hard to get up near the front at Phoenix Park? I really don't want to be way at the back.
And the Hot House Flowers??????? Jesus. The line up just keeps getting worse.

I don't really despise the chilis near as much as the crud that's coming before the pixies but saying that I don't want to chance getting there too late to get near the stage. Does anyone know how the phoenix park gigs are organised. I remember seeing the beastie boys in Galway and if you weren't there early enough to get a wrist band for the stage enclosure you were stuck out of sight for the whole day.

PS probably wear teenager of the year t-shirt

Balls. I never thought about possible difficulties getting up the front.
Saw the Thrills supporting Beck and was impressed (especially considering it was in The Point).
I'll be wearing a Pac-man t-shirt. It's got the 4 ghosts and the words
'Eat me' on it. And I just realised I should be able to do some sort of 'All my Ghosts' joke but I have to get back to work now. And I'm with Andy on the name thing (and on the talk to me if you're not annoying thing)- don't call me ispini on the off chance any of us do bump into each other. It's Dave.

Ha ha. Someone in work just showed me a headline on the Breaking News section of the Irish Times site wot says "Pixies to shut Phoenix Park to motorists". It's a subscription site though. Funny how they're blaming the Pixies though.

I was at that-it was a total disaster! There was a curfew because of local residents, and the bands had to cut there sets short, otherwise the Beasties would have had a very short headlining set! Cornershop only played for about 20 minutes. Pulp were preety good. Garbage played that too, but I'm not much of a fan. The last gig I went to was Dylan down in Kilkenny. I'm lookin' forward to see'in somemore legends tommorow(Even more exciting than getting to see Dylan!), and you know I'm only talkin' 'bout ONE band(The Thrills--Just kiddin'!!)

last week some time there was a competition on 2fm for "Pit Passes" to the Phoneix gig, and the went on about how hard these passes were to get, and there would only be a couple of hundred of them etc etc, so in other words it seems that there will be an area up front which regular people won't be able to get near...

look out for my balloons cos i'll have a little camera with me (but not to record the gig, just to amuse ourselves on the day).

so if you see a chap with a balloon, make sure you say hi to my camera. afterwards, i'll have a digital memory of the day the pixies reunited and blew our minds one evening in the pheonix park and also a hello from all the fans.

im michael by the way
