I can't tell you how warm and fuzzy I feel in the company of so many lovely REM fans. *wipes tear*
I am currently watching/listening to VH1-Classic. It was the alternative show which is always good fun and now i am singing along to 'blue bayou' with linda R. my GOSH what a voice. |

I just recently purchased all of Mike Doughty's solo albums. I had picked up his new one in a used section. It was the in store listening copy. about a week later I found that double album release. I am enjoying them all very much! Not as unusual a Soul Coughing but good stuff. I guess the first two were done on a shoe string budget but you can't tell. His new one is quite good but the double album might be better solely due to the fact that Dave Matthews doesn't appear on either of them. If you liked Soul Coughing go get these.

nice. it's hard to get a feel for what the solo stff might be like, he's done so much 'side work'....i have a track with him with BT on 'Never Gonna Come Back Down' and it's great and I'm not even a BT fan. i have to admit, i'm always a little put off when someone releases a double album so early in their solo career, not sure why. snobbery of another sort i guess haha |

No, that's actually his first two solo albums (that were put out at seperate times since he left soul coughing) re-released as a double album. Then there's his new one that came out in June 'Haughty Melodic'. They are all very good. I've had them on constant replay for about three weeks now.

Enola Gay - OMD
the plasterers are in and listening to the radio which they've tuned to a station I had no idea existed and I do realise that not everyone wants to listen to Good Riddance first thing in the morning.
(I may have to sneak down to the kitchen just for a quick blast though) |

Snoop Dog on Live 8 - not traditional Saturday teatime music, they can't bleep it live, hehe.
EDIT: Macca looks like he's loving it though!

Fear Of Music, 'Waltz'. More fantastic new talent from my home city of Manchester. They have had to cancel commitments due to their 15 year old bassist having to go on a school trip to Alton Towers. Scarily good for their age. I didn't know kids that young could come up with music this original and fresh.
Sounds like they might be influenced by Pixies, Radiohead, Muse and Mars Volta.
The singer looks about 12. How the hell can he sing like this? I'm confused.
