What is your favorite memory involving the Pixies? For instance: Mine is probably back when I was in my early twenties, and I had a summer job as a handyman. As I'm fixing a screen door, Into the White comes on the college radio station I have on. This is the first time I'd heard it, and I remember just stopping what I was doing and listening. It stayed in my head for days. And I always think back to this hot summer day sitting on that porch, and listening to it. I know it sounds kind of mundane, but this is still a great memory for me. |

I was in Berlin. After one month there for work, I was leaving the next day. There was this girl at work I had a crush on, but we never really had the opportunity to speak to each other. This day, I was supposed to work late because I had some work to complete before leaving and going back to Paris. However, fate decided otherwise. In the afternoon, everybody had to leave the work premises, because of a WW2 bomb that had been found somewhere on the site. I ended up in the subway with the girl. We discussed, and I invited her to listen to my favorite band, the Pixies. We went downtown, to a music store called World Of Music. The only album they had was the new one, Trompe le Monde. She listened to the first track, and in her broken English said: "Yes, it's commercial!". I was a little bit shocked and confused: (commercial, the Pixies?) But actually for her it meant that she liked them. So at least she was willing to please me. That was a good start. Then we married and had children. |

My wife got into the Pixies after we were married. She thinks Frank's a genius. It's pretty cool having a wife who's into your favorite band. |
