well you get the dvd, take off the plastic and open it. you take the booklet out of the clear plastic case and see some credits and thank yous. youll see screen shots of each of the videos and credits to them below. youll see the wierd metal like melting thing a lot through the booklet. on the back you see a bunch of colors with 1. set list to the performace and 2. list of the videos and 3. on the road and 4. gouge. then once you put the dvd in the dvd player you start off with a great intro with vamos, and the those sticks that spell out the pixies (like on DTTP and stuff) dropping the beat of davids bass drum in the begining of vamos. then the intro ends and here comes your menu. in each corner theres a pixie, but then keep looking and youll notice kim deals face morph into non other than Mr. Joey Santifuckinago. then youll here a very reverbed where is my mind loop of just the acoustic begining. then pick whatever you want out of the four options which are "live" "videos" "on the road" and "gouge", i chose "live" first. when you click youll hear "ohhhh STOP" then comes the next menu, and you see the set list which you can choose each individual song, or play all or menu. i chose play all. youll see the full town and country club performance. its a great performance, and its much better to watch on this dvd than it is on the bootleg vhs i got off of ebay. the sound is exellent, and it makes you feel like you there in '88 watching the concert, its a great feelin. after the final song which is wild honey pie the video will still and then fade out back to the menu where every 20 seconds or so youll hear "oh ohhh". you could press the "menu" button on the dvd, or the "menu" button on you dvd remote control if you like (i myself like to use the "menu" button on dvd itself, dont ask me why, i just kinda got the habit of it). back at the main menu you get your face morphs and you 4 sections to choose from. i chose "videos" next, if you want you could choose the "on the road" or the "gouge" documentary, whatevr youd like. click on videos same as before, youll get the where is my mind thing. then youll see a screen similar to the live section. itll list the videos in order. i decided to watch the videos in order, you dont have to, but i just decided to choose play all. you see monkey gone to heaven first, here comes your man, veloria third, dig for fire / allison forth and fifth, alec eiffel, and then last debaser if you choose "play all" if you dont choose play all you can decide whatever order you wanna see em, its totally up to you. the videos are great quality, and are better to watch on the dvd than any .mpg or .avi or vhs boot ive downloaded or bought. my favorite is the alec eiffel video cuz its fits in with the record well because its so colorful and it seems like the colors and the wind work so well with the way the song was recorded blah blah blah back to the dvd. after all the great videos, you can click the "menu" button again, and then choose whatever you want. i chose "on the road" next. youll be introduced by Myles Mangino who filmed the entire on the road section. youll see a half hours worth of random footage of the pixies goofing off a few live performances and some traveling footy. my personal favorite part is when they are playinf debaser and everythings goin fine but then during the second verse when black's all alone his guitar fucks up and hes just like " GOT ME A MOVIE HA HA HA ohhh?" i thought that was funny, and also when kim shows the map to the camera and shows where there going, it looks like shes so happy and excited to be traveling around playing with the pixies which is awsome. after the on the road section is finished, youll be brought back to the main menu yet again. and last but not least theres the "gouge" documentary. A 40 minute long documentary. its great. with the likes of david bowie, bono, and tom yhork you get a real idea of what todays artists, and some of the past think about the pixies, and how much of an influence they are. after the gouge documentary the dvd will be done. youll most likely press the power button, or the eject button. i pressed power becuase i knew id watch it again later, but maybe youll press eject to put it back in its case, its all up to you. i guess thats about it, sorry i didnt get into too much detail, i hope thats enough for ya.

Here is my 5 star review.
The Pixies DVD is a must have for every Pixies fan or anyone who has just discoverd the Pixies. It is a magic spaceship that takes you back into time and lets you see the Pixies with a whole new perspective-- for those of us who were actually lucky enough to have been there, it provides a 1 1/2+ meander down memory lane by filling in the memory creveces eroded by time. For those of us not yet old enough to have been there, the DVD gives us such a fine sensory experience, we are tricked what we are watching is not based on first-hand experience.
This DVD exceeded by far the quality and quanity of material as well as the consumer experience.
The packaging is beautiful. The case is made with an extra thick plastic. The case is shaped like a book, not like a cd. The graphics are wonderful and look much better in person vs. the internet.
The content is amazing. The DVD menu is creative and easy to interact with. The DVD is broken up into four categories Live, Videos, On The Road and Gouge. You can play each seprately or in many cases such as Videos and Live play by the track.
As a fomer journalist, I know a lot about documentries. Gouge is an awesome living history of the Pixies. It's told in the words of band music critics and and some of the many musicians influenced by the Pixies. Personally, I found it interesting becaus revealed significant new information of Pixies pre-reunion history.
Live was awesome...my favorte parts were those real prefomance glitches you can only catch live such as Frank's gutair string breaking. It was cool watching this prefomance becasue I could see all the band members and could compare this old school preformance to the one I just saw at the Fine Line. It's hard to say which song was my favorite, but I would have to vote I've Been Tied due to the twist the faster drumbeat of this perfomance gives this song. The other cool thing is if you have seen them live this tour, it will be obvious how each member has even further mastered their preformance...which doesn't seem possible if you only have the DVD to base it on.
The watching the videos was very cool. It is so funny how things got mixed up in my head over the years (e.g. mentally setting the Debaser video to the Monkey Gone to Heaven song). It was fun going back in time and watching these videos again...with high quality video and no commercial interuptions.
On the Road a is collection of b-roll and concert preformances of the Pixies world tour in '89 it is very cool because you get to feel as if you are actullay there hanging out with them. It captures the people behind the musical genius and is very cool.
If you don't have a DVD, I reccomend that you pick one up. If you are an old-school fan you will tresure the presentation and the wealth of knowledge that it will teach you about the Pixies. If you are new school fan, this will bring you up to speed on the heratige of the Pixies. Regardless of what category you fall under, you will love the music and the immersion into the Pixies experience.
