WOW!!! I don't really know of any other word with which to begin., so there you go. WOW!!! That was the hardest pressing of an eject button, ever. I think I am gonna go back and play it again. My eyes hurt from staring so hard at the screen. Perhaps I should have had the light on, I don't know.

Anyway, it really hit me as 'Where Is My Mind' started, the crowd went wild for the first time really, and this in a time before Fight Club, reminding us of just how amazing that song is. Quite simply it is one of the greatest songs ever written and we must never lose sight of that again. Forget how popular it has become, there is a reason for that. It's amazing!!! Kim's smile could have launched a million ships, let alone a thousand.

When they played 'Hey', my eyes started welling up. Just seeing that song performed live was very emotional for me. It's probably my favourite (as hard as that is to choose) if I was pushed to name and I was genuinely choked. The whole thing just reminded me of why I love them so much, it's really indescribable 'cos I could never do them justice. If a band can have not a single 'ballad' to their name and still almost bring a grown man to tears then they are something very very special indeed. I just can't imagine how emotional I will be when I see them in Brixton on 2nd June. I have been thinking for some time that I may just lose it, but after tonight, I really believe I might. Look out for me, I'll be the one crying like a baby down the front!!!

But I can't end this here without a couple of special mentions. Firstly Joey's guitar playing on Vamos is truly inspirational. I am genuinely inspired. Seeing him play on it live was something to behold. How fucking underrated is that guy!?!?!? Not by us!!! Frank's playing also, is a lot better than I had previously realised from listening to their records. I was like a proud, doting mother when Frank's guitar string broke and he stood at the microphone, all vulnerable without his guitar. I just wanted to jump onstage and hug him!!! But that's just it with them isn't it? They are so 'everyday' as people, yet as talent they are the rarest, the most profound I have ever encountered. Again I use the word inspirational, and I use it with more conviction than at any other time in my life. They make me want to change things, musically, just as they did.

If anyone who had the patience to read this (and I thank you if you did) hasn't bought the DVD yet, then do so. Do so at the earliest possible moment. You will not be dissapointed!!!

Thank you Frank
Thank you Kim
Thank you Joey
Thank you David

Thanks guys, I really couldn't be more happy at the moment!!! I just love them so much. I love their attitude. They just aren't rock stars and that's why I love them. They are you and me and that's how it should be.

I have my guitar in hand right now. Like I said, truly inspirational!!!

awww, very sweet mike. smile, next saturday. let's get wasted, we'll find a single pixies-fan girl and you can tell her what you said in this thread... she'll be weak at the knees!

Is it like today? Oh, oh, oh-oh. Then there followed days with kings, empires and revolutions. blood just looks the same when you open the veins. sometimes it was faith, power or reason as the cornerstone. but the furrowed brow has never left his face. he said, how did it come to this?

Have you noticed that in the DVD material Frank breaks a guitar string, his guitar belt and hits the microphone during "In Heaven". Isn't funny to see your idol doing such stupid things?

And for the first time in my life, I don't care. I love him!!!

I mean, I used to be scared of that guy with his psycho screaming and stuff... It's strange to see him like this.

I've noticed another thing at that moment: Black Francis first worry is about how they sound and not how they look. This could sound obvious, but when you see some grunge era videos you will know what I mean.

Somewhere on the AlecEiffel site they have an interview with Frank Black and Bob Mould together. Bob Mould mentions how strange he feels singing without a guitar. Frank says it has never happened to him. This was in '92, Franks must've forgotten the incident.

Follow the articles link on the left hand, it is in there.

Funniest part of the DVD is in the "on the road" section. They are in Germany, and apparently they went shopping. There is a classic moment where they are on the bus and Kim is showing everyone what she bought. I won't spoil it, but it's funny as hell.

In the 'Gouge' documentary one the interviewees says "If you're a hard core Pixies fan, it's not to cool to say you like Trompe le Monde". That's a lie.

I love the DVD, and it leaves me wanting much more!

That's Adam Buxton, and he says it about Bossanova, not Trompe.

Mind you, he also singled out La La Love You from Doolittle!

I loved the DVD - but I really wonder wether the Gouge documentary was a bit too much of a British take on the Pixies - I can't think of any American contributors other than Kristen Hirsh and the guys from the band - am I wrong?

Ok alot of the interviewees were international artists, Bowie, Radiohead and the like but Adam Buxton (bless his heart) is hardly likely to strike a cord with our friends across the ocean, and as for Bush! - well that didn't date the DVD to much.

Does anyone know if this is a longer version of the documentary than the one which aired on the BBC a couple of years back - it seemed to have new stuff in it to me but I might be wrong

My head was feeling scared, but my heart was feeling free

I've been mailing with a director of a spanish music TV program that will play Gouge this month. I'm considering the possibility of making my own subtitles with their help, but... It's a hard work!!!

I found it funny to see that both the new britney spears dvd and pixies were out at the same time. Pixies are top of the music dvd chart whilst britney had to make do. Im sure she wont be crying about it, but its cool nontheless.

I just finished watching the DVD last night and I must say I was impresssed. I thought I would watch a bit of it and go to bed, but I just couldn't hit the stop button.

What really struck me about the live set was how little was different from what I saw at the show in Winnipeg. Aside from the fact that they are 15 years older, the Winnipeg show, in many ways, looked like the London show. If anything I think Frank's vocals have improved since the DVD show, which can not often be said about a singer who sings like he does.

It was fun rewatching the videos as well. Here Comes Your Man is freakin' hilarous, and Head On really exemplifies how much fun they have with what they are doing.

Oh yeah, I paid only $17.99 for my copy. I bought it at A&B Sound, which I think is only in western Canada.

Cheers.

Yeah, that's where I got mine from too. They're not stocking the Ween DVD though, the bastards. And they're out of the boxset DVD of The Office, though I really don't want to buy it until they put the specials on there too. What were they thinking leaving those off?!
