This is probably old news but I haven't see it posted. What's with this exlusive Pixies single at 4ad? Does anyone know what the "3 unreleased live tracks" are? Has anyone bought this and is it worth it?
Plus there's this ilovepixies website. Has all of this been mentioned? I bet. http://www.4ad.com/news/catalogue/#

it has been mentioned a few times :)
the b-sides aren't unreleased, they're from Alec Eiffel or Head On singles, so if you have those, you don't need it :) it's a neat package anyway...
ilovepixies.com is 4ad's promo mini site for you all to share memories and stuff... and win some "shit" too, apparently. Signed by v23 :) |

ooh. ok. thanks for responding. I don't check this forum often so I guess I had the waiting coming to me. Do you happen to know what those unreleased songs are? The damn site doesn't seem to say.

Couldn't find this in a forum search (Microsoft SQL server errors), so forgive me if it's redundant.
* Where Is My Mind? (from Surfer Rosa) * Planet of Sound (Brixton Academy 1991-07-26) * Tame (Brixton Academy 1991-07-26) * Debaser (Cabaret Metro, Chicago 1989-08-10)
MP3s encoded with iTunes 4.2, 200kbps VBR, including album cover art. The live tracks are from the Canadian "Head On" EP. The download includes PDFs of a two-page fold-over CD insert and a disk label (Avery L7760).
The "Mac Package" has all these files in a stuffit archive -- I assume the Windows one is zipped.
It's not bad, and I might still have bought it if I knew exactly what it was. But I was excited about finding something new, and ended up having paid again for four tracks I already have. 4AD misrepresented these as "unreleased live tracks," and I was left feeling ripped off. Where is my mind?
At least they weren't in bloody WMA format. |

oh god, tell me about it. I don't know who decided to call these unreleased, as we (me and backcat) have been pointing out they're not unreleased and are actually fairly easy to find.
I think the ilovepixies site was corrected, but some people may have got the incorrect information initially. I'm not happy about it either... I did try post everywhere at the time that the tracks weren't that limited though... |

I originally found the single through pixies4ad.com (the "official" site). Just had look at ilovepixies.com -- it says "an exclusive digital single containing three Pixies live tracks that have never been released this side of the solar-plexus."
I complained by email to the address concerning e-commerce on the site. Received a prompt reply offering a refund, and saying that they're trying to get the copy changed on the 4ad site.
I decided to keep it. |

that was probably the email I got on Monday - I passed it on to the relevant people... if people do want to complain, bear in mind, emailing me at mailorder isn't the right place, but i can forward it on...
anything 4AD is an official site of sorts, just an official record label site...
gawd, its all so confusing. |
