Those are pretty good, but I usually have the skin from the top of my mouth peeling away after those fuckers burn the shit out of me. The cost in pain is too high.
Pepridge Farm (terribly misspelled) use to have a great frozen pizza. Now a days I buy a Digrono's (I can't spell anything) if I'm slumming with a frozen pizza.
Floop, Trader Joes make some nice frozen pizzas. I like their simple cheese pizza. Good thin crust for a frozen.
How the hell are certain pizzas hotter than others? If they require a much higher heat (strange in itself) then just lower the heat and cook for longer. Or let it cool down a little when you take it out of the oven. It seems kind of obvious to me.

What were you thinking? That I am a man of taste or that Fraich'Up pizzas taste great? Because both are true, actually. Adnan, have you tried the Carbonara Mamma Giulia? It's by Buitoni too but it tastes awful. I didn't think a pizza could taste bad, but that one truly sucked.

Life isn't so simple. It's not just the heat of the pizza that matters. These French Bread pizza are thick, pretty round, and crisp. So, you don't have any good angle to attck these bad boys and you have to open up wide and bite down hard to get the bite. Then, the cheese is only loosely attached to the pizza. So, when you get your first bite the cheese sticks to the top of your mouth and is on there long enough to do some nice damage.
Sure, someone with self constraint could overcome this trap (let it cool down, cut it up with a knife), but if you're eating frozen pizza you're probably not thinkking too well. |

most reputable frozen pizza companies recommend a 5 minute cool down time after baking. i say more like between 2.00 - 2.15.. but you have to give it some time.
the last thing you want to do is burn your taste buds and not be able to savor your pizza.. should that ever happen though, and old trick i learned back in vietnam (literally) is to stick out your tongue as far as you can and scrape it on the tips of your front teeth, trying to cover as much surface area as possible.
you'll scrape away the top layer of skin on your tongue (taste buds included) enabling new tongue skin tissue to grow back. the cells in your tongue regenerate themselves very quickly because of the amount of blood in the area.
if you play your cards right, you can be enjoying your pizza by the time it's cooled down. |

Oh, I forgot to give my thumbs up to those French Bread pizzas from Stouffer's. They are great, although I haven't had one in al ong time. I used to eat them all the time years ago at lunch when I worked at CompUSA. Understandibly, I became sick of them.

as mentioned before, the Trader Joe's ones are my recent favorite (the "Deluxe" are the best). if you've never tried the Trader Joe's ones, and you're going to be alone some night, stop off and get a 12-pack and fire up the oven (and the computer).. if you don't enjoy your evening i will personally refund you for the amount of the pizza.
or not. |

I'm going to go with DiGiorno frozen pizza, with Freschettas being a runner up, the sauce is spicier and they have the sauce stuffed crust which is really cool. As far as beer, I'm more of a whiskey man, if I'm drinking beer it's usually just whatever is offered. PBR or Coors Light would be my choices I think, but like I said I have no taste in beer.

There's one called Freschetta, which is awesome!!!!! Tombstone and Red Baron are good, as well. I usually go for the store brands, though.

I'm glad you explained the physics behind burning our mouths on SFBP, darwin. Couldn't have said it better. I don't think using a fork and knife makes it better, because that's what I do and I burn my mouth 33% of the time on my first bite.
Who has time to wait 2 minutes to let it cool off. When I'm hungry, I gotta eat, even if it means having a first degree burn in my mouth.

I am really suprised that no one else has mentioned the ultimate frozen pizza. I do not know the manufacturer, and have not eaten one since about 1986, but given the consistency and base material, I am sure there are some left around. These were purchased as 4"x6" rectangles (10.16x15.24cm for you non-US types). They were found at or near public swimming pool concession stands, and the occasional travelling carnival. When prepared the only way appropriate (by microwave, in a non-perforated plastic wrapper) the cheese and sauce completely liquify and become as molten lava to the touch, which one must in order remove the now rubberized plastic wrapper. The crust is like a soft, doughy corrugated cardboard soaked in seperated cheese oil and pepperoni grease. This foodstuff has two states: molten and icy. There is no observed transient phase, and you WILL experience pain in the eating process.
Man, I wonder where I can get me one of them...gotta eat it while hanging over a box of chlorine tablets to get the taste right though.

All of this talk of frozen pizza has forced me to preheat my oven to the coveted 400 degrees. I prefer DiGiorno as well, but since I'm usually not very hungry I get the personal size. The 4-Cheese DiGiorno Peronal Pizza is the only way to go when it comes to frozen 1 serving pizzas. Mmm...come on oven...WARM UP! GRR....My so hungy... |

Freschetta (or however it's spelled). It's not all that different from Digorno and it's about a dollar cheaper.
However, I usually just make my own French bread pizzas.
1 loaf of French bread - $1 1 jar of pizza sauce (good for about two loaves of bread) - 90 cents some Hormel pepperoni (good for 4 -6 loaves of bread) - $1.80 baggy of shredded mozzarella (good for 2-3 loaves of bread) -$1.70
That's good enough for me. I keep meaning to add more stuff to it, but I never think of it when I'm at the grocery store. I have this about once a week. It takes about the same time to prepare as a frozen pizza does. |

I think it is important to note the fact that frozen pizza and "real pizza" are not actually in the same food category. I enjoy all types of pizza, from the gourmet chicken-pesto variety to the Chicago deep dish. I also partake in the frozen-ass TOTINO'S "party pizza." We used to call it cardboard pizza. Can you compare these two types of food, other than their general appearance and physical structure? Not really.
So for frozen pizza, make it Totino's. Why? Because it tastes nothing like real pizza, and that's why it's good. If you want something that tastes like real pizza, get some real pizza.

Luckily I don't live on an island myself, but I do live in Wisconsin, USA. If you are not familiar with the area, the state is famous for cheese, sausage, and beer. Some people here are so big they actually have a gravitational pull. When my wife goes shopping for pants, she has a hard time finding anything less than size 16. I don't know much about women's clothing (honest) -- but I think that's pretty big.

no no, you misread, me dear, he said his wife finds trouble finding anything *under* size 16, which means she is smaller than that, therefore, my comment was not insulting in the least.
