Just wondering which Pixies song you absoloutely hated but now you can't get enough of?
When i first got into the Pixies I could not stand Gouge Away. Now however I totally love it. No. 13 Baby was another track I used to skip until it caught my ear how much the last couple of minutes rocked. These 2 songs are in my top 3 Pixies songs along with All Over The World (which i always loved). |

I used to dislike Gouge Away and then I read the backstory about it being the story of Samson from the bible and I really started listening to it. I'm not a real bible freak, I just thought it was a neat thing for him to do. But I still don't like Silver.

I used to skip "Palace of the Brine" but I thought it was How to say goodbye for quite a while. |

Rock Music. I used to think it was just a load of random noise but i soon realised upon repeated listenings what an insane, aggressive, amazing tune this was and now its one of my favourites. As usual though, im not quite sure what its getting at.

I used to have a severe dislike for ALEC EIFFEL whenever I listened to tlm... Sanity has since prevailed, Alec is A-OK.

Carribou use to grate on my nerves like you wouldn't believe (or maybe you would...) I'd be sitting at my desk workin on whatnots and the song would just start seepin into my brain until I had to get up and skip it. Nowsadays I can cycle it on repeat until the wife's crying. =) |

I use to not like Oh My Golly for the longest. But I listen to it a few times now I can't get it out of me head. In fact, I'm singing it right now! It was the last part of the track that won me over "I said you FUCKING DIE!!"

Sad Punk I used to always skip but love it now.

I had friends who were crazy with Gouge Away, while I did not get it. It took me the live CD on DttP to make it a fave. Into The White also took a long time to grow on me, as well as I'm Amazed and Motorway To Roswell. |

I never thought much of Is She Weird? when I first heard it. Actually, I considered it kind of lame.
I really dig it now, though...still not a favorite, but I don't skip over it any more. |

Ana didn't really grab me at first listen, but I love it to bits now, I think is one of CT's finest songwriting moments. Also There Goes My Gun never did a lot for me until I heard the BBC version, which is ace.

No, it's retarded. I refer to it as "the Pixies song that never grew on me." |

I wouldn't say I used to hate "Tame", but it just wasn't my favorite. When I saw it live, it's the only song I want to listen to now.

When I first got Surfer Rosa, I used to always skip "Cactus" until I let myself be drawn into its pure hypnotic powers. It has since then become a personal favorite. |

Tony's Theme, Into the White, and Bailey's Walk. Is She Weird isn't too great either.

The end of Tony's theme reminds me of those knights who say Ni!in Monty Python.

I sort of used to like Tony's Theme, until I read a quote from Frank saying he thought it was stupid. Then, I listened to it some more and realized it IS sort of stupid. Now I don't like it.
I guess I am saying the opposite of what this thread is about! Well, while I'm at it...
Silver: I used to hate it and now I have re-burned a copy of Doolittle without it. Saves me from having to press the skip button on the CD player.

I bought Trompe Le Monde when I was about 17 because a girl I admired had it. I listened to it once or twice and thought "What crap! This is like a bunch of headbangers!" I was thoroughly disappointed. Now mind you, my favorite bands at the time were like "The Darling Buds" and "The Soup Dragons". Then perhaps 6 months later I - for some reason - listened to the CD again and was completely enamored. I put it on repeat about a billion times, and then ran out and bought every other Pixies CD I could find.
I wonder what psychological thing happened to me there. They probably have a name for it. |
