He was a boy who was murdered in the grounds of Narabone high school in LA, which FB had attended. He was shocked that this happened in a place where he used to stand every day at lunch break, and that it was disturbing..."Like Clockwork Orange....in a bad way, obviously."
I was contacted by one of Shazeb's best friends via e-mail (he found me randomly through the board.) He asked if the song was indeed about his buddy (who he said he had not thought of for years) and asked where he could find a copy of the song. I was taken aback, but of course I helped him out...he hadn't the faintest idea who Frank Black is though. I think he wanted the song more for sentimental value.
There was this website which had all these memorials to children and teenagers who died senselessly. There was a page for Shazeb Andleeb. I remember it saying something to the effect that he was attacked by a group of guys because he didn't invite them to a party or something really trivial. It's so tragic and senseless.
Since I've become a parent I've found that I'm much more sensitive to this kind of stuff.
