Time for my two cents... travesty is the word I'd use. You knew it was a bad sign when Father Ted didn't make the Top Ten but Vicar Of Dibley did. And for it to come third?! Its just not funny!
I could kind of see OF&H winning, but I was shocked that Fawlty Towers came 5th. Porridge and Yes Minister should've been higher as well.
Waste of time, tsk.

I can't believe 'the Young Ones' isn't in the top ten. Seems like the otherendofthespectrummiddleaged BBC directors got their hands on this list.

Mmm can't argue with the top 2, they both deserve to be there.
I don't think vicar of dibley should have been third either,definately not as good as porridge,open all hours or fawlty towers.That should have made up the top 5 IMO.

it summed it up when you had both carol vorderman and cliff richard supporting vicar of dibley as the best sitcom... summed it up completely.
it's annoying, as i still reckon father ted didn't make it into the top 10 because it was a Channel 4 production... i mean, it's quite possibly the funniest thing in a long time! definately in my top 5, if not my top 3!

Btw, what's the name of that sitcom which makes fun out of the French Resistance? I must admit it was funny. And there was another one, called "A new Statesman" or somethnig like this, which was really funny.

Did anyone ever see the 100 worst tv moments...i think that was what it was anyway.
Anyway there was some sitcom called "Heil Honey I'm home" about a family of jews who lived next door to adolf hitler and his wife.Enjoyable viewing im sure...........

| What is up with the laugh track on Father Ted? My friend got it from Netflix and we couldn't stand all the gaffawing - we had to turn it off. Someone says "bollucks!" and the people SCREAM with laughter. It was so fucking annoying. |

| How come The Office isn't on that list? I've personally never seen it but I've been hearing about it constantly for about the past year (in both the media and word of mouth) as being the best and funniest Television to come out of Britain in years. |

never noticed the canned laughter too much on father ted, and we have the dvd box-set... fantastic. just fantastic. i may have never noticed it because i'm normally laughing along too loudly to hear the canned laughter at all those points... maybe you guys just don't get it? probably morissey fans...

Isn't the reason why Father Ted didn't make the top ten because it was an Irish sitcom?
That top ten is shite, probably voted for by the middle age folk in the UK. Alan Partridge should have been there.

Father Ted was top 20 I think, so it wasn't excluded on racialist grounds, it's just further proof of the invalidity of this list.
Remember the others that didn't make the top ten include Red Dwarf and Steptoe & Son, and Black Books didn't even make top 50.

i'm sure we've done this already pet monkey, in another thread... maybe not... but maybe... i'm going on the saturday to brixton, i think you said you're going on the weds or thurs as you got tickets first time around? maybe i'm wrong? does it annoy anyone that i always end sentences with ... as though i'm going to say something else, or continue it in some way, when in fact i don't? my mates get annoyed when i do that in text messages, as they wait for a second text, but of course don't get one...

I almost agree with the top 2, but I would prefare 'Blackadder' for pure comedy-although Fools 'n Horses is one of my fave TV shows ever....also, Fawlty Towers should've been higher.

fawlty towers should have been in the top 2 alongside blackadder with only fools and horses 3rd.
