Ah, I know the drill.
I'm an administrative temp myself. I'm working at the National Park Service right now (very chill job, chill people, good place to work)...I basically drive into a beautiful national park every day for work (but sit in an office). Still, its a very good day job for a musical hopeful like myself. The position i'm temping for has actually opened up, so I'm submitting a formal application on Monday. I have my fingers crossed! |

I work at Ruby Tuesday's, as a cook. But I am really an aspiring graphic designer/comic book penciller. (Or a history teacher. Yeah, I know those are some varied interests, eh?)
Take me, break me, tell me a good one and maybe I'll cry

You've got the best job of all. Being a writer or musician is my dream but I've no talent. Damn! Just imagine what it must be like to be able to create something like Surfer Rosa or Amazing adventures of Kavalier and Clay!

If it makes you guys feel any better, my family and friends used to dread getting my first few stories to read (they tell me now). Talent is common as muck, it´s just work.

I am an IT Architect. That more or less translates to ex-programmer powerpoint jockey. I like the job a lot, but not where it is right now. I also make strange sounds at home for my things that grow to feed me.

I was a New Hampshire surfer and wanted to be where the real surfing was going on. I now work the Coast Starlight, which goes from LA to Washington. The scenery is unreal. I go through Ventura, Santa Barbara, and north, up the coast. it's one of Amtrak premier trains. The work is often very likable. I get to see all kinds of wildlife. Boar, dear, bobcat, coyote, mountain lions, whales seals, dolphin etc. This is all from the train! plus if your doing everything right you can go weeks without seeing your boss! I live in Morro Bay which is a small beautiful central Ca coastal town. Big differance from the Boston area. Downside: the job is six days a week with lots of night's in hotels. You get burned out if you don't take a vacation every four months or so. All in all it (the railroad) has been good to me. I own two rental properties and live at the beach. I kinda feel like I've been on vacation for the last three years (except for the part where I go to work everyday). I will say it's not so pleasant when I run over animals (human and otherwise) at 79mph. That's one of the most stressful parts of the job. I've managed to keep that to a minimum though. At least with the humans. Stay away from the tracks kids! More info than you were probably looking for but I'm a little hopped up on green tea right now.
You drive a train?!?!?!?! Now that's NOTEWORTHY!!!! Kind of cold but LOTS of good surf up there. |

For which paper?
Hell guys, I envy you when you say you are writers and stuf like that. I signed the contract for my job on Friday, and basically I'll be working untill 2am almost every day for two or three years, 7 days a week. I know writing is also about hard work, but at least you're your own boss, and you have a creative work.

Do they let you swallow all the food? My friend was a beer tester and he always had to spit it out. Then again it was Miller so it was probably for the best.

I have actually recently sold my soul to satan, and have begun working in a tele - marketing centre. IM a call girl. hahaha. sort of any way.
Nah, I ring up poor unsuspecting women and talk them in to signing up to recieve some information on female cancer insurance policies.
happy stuff, huh?
No, really though, its not too bad, Im fairly good at it, and its pretty easy money. Aslong as you know how to handle customers, and use the tones and inflections of your voice to you advantage, its an ok job. Plus there is a lot of nice people in there, and its the best money I can get for the hours I can work while at college.
But yeah, Im also a college student studying Media studies - mostly means i get to make short productions and stuff (as well as radio and magazine and photography involved)...and really am drawn to the role of directing/writing...but any aspect interests me really.
I also run a music promotions company - well, i mean re launching right now. so that cool. Used to do a lot of music journalism, but decided i prefer the more putting nights and gigs on, and dabble in a bit of management and the like.
so yeah, thats me

For that matter, same goes for the Brits. The QS world is a murky one.
