Catholic church agrees with the Big Bang theory, but IT'S NOT IN THE BIBLE!!!! I wouldn't call the Bible a reliable source, even if they did not announced Pixies reunion |

Religion has just become so wrong to me now. People have lost sight of what it should all be about. Loving one another. That in itself is a near impossible thing to do all of the time, so I would rather concentrate more energy into that.

Thanks, I agreed with your previous ones too. I think we are reading from the same Hymn book, if you would excuse the pun.

God could have very well used the Big Bang to create the heavens. But how the universe got here is not nearly as important a topic as God being his own entity, rather than a trinity. I can't imagine how much God would be offended by such an accusation. Also, of course, the Bible is only going to be a reliable source if you're putting faith in it. However, faith in the Bible or not, it for the most part has been historically and archeoligically proven in it's details. If that's the case, then I don't have a problem believing the parts that have neither been proven nor disproven. That, to me, is a substantial, reliable thing to put faith in. On the lighter side, if you've read Revelation carefully, you'll see that it did predict the Pixies reunion! (just kidding)

Finally, The natural inclination for religious faith is an integral part of the human essence. This is an indisputable fact of history. All scholars of comparative religion, regardless of their own religious backgrounds, agree that religious belief is a natural human condition. They differ, however about its origins.
It is indispensable for everybody to look for the truth now or later but who guarantee life and how long we are going to live and when the last moment will come. No body knows. We have all the capabilities and resources to recognize and distinguish using for example the Internet. There will be no excuse for all of us, we will be asked then.

No she doesn't. Officially the church says that the world was created in 6 days and that we all descend from Adam and Eve.

I guess that if only 144,000 people are allowed to heaven, it's not worth trying.
Have some wine, please, don't run away. |

Isn't there something about Heaven (or Meaven, perhaps <g>) being already full, and the remaining righteous inheriting the Earth? I'm not really up on Watchtower teaching.

Religious faith may be a natural inclination, but man is defining what to worship. Currently, within the last thousands of years, it's Jesus, Allah, and the dozens of other proposed gods. What will be next? Will it plagerize the life of the previous?
From what I've observed, that natural inclination is mainly a product of being socialized homosapiens. It's a void that needs to be filled, and in our modern age..we have found it in easier access of socializing through family, friends, internet, groups, communities, etc. There are still the lonely and isolated, and these are those who still feel the need to fill the void with an imaginary friend: god. They are great for controlling, also.
The imaginary enemy, satan or whoever your religion decides, is slowly fading as we have a greater understanding of genetic and mental disorders. "Miracles" are not happening as often, because people are expecting proof because of faith's antithesis: reason.
Religions may grow and decline, just like other trends.. My friend has just joined the Atkins diet. |
