Lately I've been suffering from a rare infliction. I find myself driving around with the windows down & the Pixies tunes cranked and then uncontrollably and without warning I begin to scream "I'm goin' to see the f**king Pixies!!!!" and other such exclamations.
Has anyone else experienced this or something similar?

I know what you mean. I made a Minidisc full of all 5 albums, B-sides, BBC sessions, Live, and Purple tape songs. Over 5 hours of bliss. I just put my MD player on random as I go inbetween classes, work, etc., and I'm good for days. Next up: Frank Black MiniDisc (non-Catholics, that's already made and in use.) |

ya, while listening to monkey this morning, mrs fumanbru asked if i've gone to frank heaven. i've got the pixies/fb/fb francis rotation going on non stop for the last month. i've made some good mixes too, with more mellow (less screaming) tunes to keep my wife happy. but once she heads out the door i put in trompe le monde and crank it to 11!
obijohn- give us the heads up when you'll be playing pixies tracks on the radio. i've been listening and heard a cover of alex eiffel last week that sounded pretty cool.

luckily, for the last month or so my favorite radio station (kexp) has been playing the whole pixies catalogue a few songs at a time at 8:00 am every day. this has been keeping my MPD in remission. the dj is almost outta songs. maybe it's time to buy that pink mini ipod.
http://kexp.org/playlist/playlist.asp check out 8:00 am it's been great

I'll be doing an all Pixies show on April 13th. I'm hoping I will be able to do the show live (not prerecorded). This way, any Pixies fans in Winnipeg can join me on air. We can discuss MPD. After all, the first step to recovery is admitting you have a problem. (Not that I want to be cured )
My wife has also been suffering lately, from second-hand Pixies. Soon, the government will have to step in, declare their buildings Pixie free, and set up Pixie-shacks no less than 50 feet from entrances.

Since I got my reunion tickets, my MPD has been fairly manageable. Sometimes it bothers the people around me - the constant talking about, listening, playing Pixies...but its ok. However these rumors about "secret shows" a threat to my sanity. Now I will be always wondering, "Did a show just come up that I don't know about and the tickets are already gone?" People with MPD oftentimes also suffer from PPTSD - Post-Pixies Ticketing Stress Disorder.
the method...of stop tap spin, no talkin'... |

Luckily my boyfriend likes my MPD. The other day I was listening to the smiths in my car, when I picked up my b/f I got this... -"hey wheres the pixies?" -"i thought we'd have a change of pace" -"aww but it was so cute how you blasted the pixies and screamed out the window, you were so excited!"
sorry Morrisey, but the Pixies it is. :) |
