No, it is a serious problem for a lot of people. I think one of the main problems is that no one talks about it and many people don't realize it's happening to them or else they won't admit to the possibility. There are books written about it and support groups have been established for people with the mental addiction. This website tries to help people who are addicted:

Well if you lose interest whilst having sex with someone, then yes EVENTUALLY you are gonna lose your stimulation too. That goes without saying. I used to be able to suck my own dick when I was 15 or so. It's not that great because you're coming at it at the wrong angle. My back isn't that flexible anymore.

The Cult of Frank is kind of right- I wish I could of jumped into this thread around page 4 or 5 but I didn't read it till later.
Anyway, realmeanmotorscutor, so far I haven't seen any sign that the Crouton is "a good guy". What I have seen is that the Crouton is saving his virginity for marriage and is dating a girl who cheated on him for "the first 4-5 months of this relationship". It is a mockery of love to stay with someone who would be so dishonest.
You say he should be "commended" for his "strong will". He admitted that the cocktail of anti-depressants he takes leaves him with almost no sex drive. It doesn't sound like it's his willpower that's keeping him celibate.
If he isn't having sex, all he has to tell people who ask is that it's a private subject that he doesn't want to talk about. But the Crouton goes into a forum thread called "Largest Penis on the Forum" and talks about his virginity and says things like:
"...at least I was raised to have morals."
"Let me explain this to you all: ...I have such high morals."
and then when people disagree with him he says:
"...you have no right to say that."
"Don't you dare say..."
&
"Don't assume, bitch."

It all depends on how you present yourself, the way you're treated. Human psychology and patterns are very easy to follow. If you carry yourself on a high horse, people are going to shit on you, that's the natural reaction. You put on the holier than thou act, you make yourself a target. Perhaps you don't see it that way, but that's the way others see it.

Barto, I see what you're saying but about the age thing: I bet it pissed you off when people said it to you, no? Pissed me off too and you know what? It still pisses me off because I have not changed all that much. Sure, I've matured but my principles and morals have remained. I took that abuse for nothing and TCF might be too. What's more, people act as if he ought to change the way he feels. He shouldn't. What happened to the days when people would support such a good person? This is what's wrong with the world.
