Ok, I really made an attempt to get tickets on Feb 21st at Ticketmaster and to no surprise tickets were sold out within 10 minutes!
Who here thinks the commodore (yes it's a really nice venue) should be shunned in favour of either the Orpheum (Hey, if the strokes can play there and fill the house, surely the pixies can too), or even better Queen Elizabeth theatre? (Beck played there)?
It seems kind of well... stupid to be playing a venue that only holds 500 people at a time, and for two nights that amounts to 1000 happy fans! (and how many more unhappy like myself)
Why are the pixies playing such a small venue? If the Notwist could change their venue on short notice, why can't the Pixies management wise up and realize that:
happy fans + more capacity = good for everyone!
regards, P

I don't think there are too many rooms in the city that Pixies can't sell out. I think I could even put them in Pacific Place, and if not sell out, at least turn a very tidy profit. Speaking on purely selfish terms, I'm ecstatic to see them play at the Commodore, but the bigger humanist part of me wants to see more people at the show. April in Vancouver is beautiful enough, even an outdoor show at Thunderbird Stadium would work out. Even the Ben Harper/Jack Johnson boredom machine played that venue. It's pretty clear that demand for these shows is insatiable. |

howdy everyone,
just fyi,
I think everyone had a hard time getting tickets to Friday's Vancouver affair, even the scalpers!
There's only ONE set of tickets to Friday's Vancouver show left on ebay! (Not to cause a mass panic or anything, but I just couldn't believe that!)
I was just thinking you might want to try to get your tickets now, if you want to go. I have been studying the ebay auctions for days now looking for the best deal on Winnipeg tickets and everything Amazed said in his "supply and demand" post is true. I suspect some of the scalpers might be waiting until right before the show to sell their tickets at astronomical prices? Or maybe true fans bought up most of the tickets to Friday's show and no one wants to part with them? Whatever the reason, just reading the message board makes me think the Vancouver show is going to be the hardest to get into.
Anyway, just wanted to pass the info along to you all. I'm following Amazed and pixie801's advice and I am buying my tickets to the Winnipeg show ASAP!
Hope you all get to see the show you want to see, or any show at all.
(I really hope I'm being helpful, and not too neurotic)
see ya! |

Wow, everybody - its great how many of you are going to BOTH shows - except that y'all snapped up all the tix while some of us couldn't get any for EITHER ONE! I really hope you enjoy yourself for TWO NIGHTS IN A ROW, not just one, while the rest of us get to sit at home with our unfulfilled dreams for THE REST OF OUR LIVES.
I'm not bitter. |

Ah, good times on the Vancouver posting. Beergeek, I am excited about the potential of buying those tickets off of you.
A couple days ago I was a bit bothered to find out that people were emailing each other to try and skip the posting's established order of ticket divvying. Like many gentlemen, I would give my left testicle to see the Pixies in Vancouver on Friday night. (Not that anyone would want it. What would they do with it? But still, I'd give it.) And yet, I will absolutely respect the order that people jumped on board the sharing/buying system, otherwise it's all chaos and favoritism and highest bidder junk, which compromises the integrity of the system's intention.
Lovely!

How were they doing that? And kottke, I'm the one after you on that list...do you only need 1 extra ticket? |

Beergeek (Jeff)... I do know someone in Victoria who has 2 extra tickets... she was going to hold them for me, but it will be pretty tough for me to make it to the Victoria show... but I REALLY WANT to see either of the 'Couv shows... maybe I could facilitate the trade?

hi - i just wanted to say that i am not going to make it for any of the vancouver shows (scheduled for work), so you can take me off the trading list.
thankfully, i got tix to the victoria show. so i am not so heartbroken. i couldn't grab extras because of the 4 ticket max. |

Ticketmaster has changed the website to a coded system today and are pulling back tickets that were bought by scalpers. Also trying to kill Ebay sales ! Maybe some more tickets will be back on line soon. TM still shows this venue not sold out. Plus some credit card buys fail, and the tickets go back in to the system. They are checking the logs for IP addys and killing multi buys. Its about time TM did something. This is a landmark event, that the Pixies have change the world again !

Perk, I hope you're onto something!!! Can they really revoke tickets that went to the baddies? How would that affect the people who succumbed to the demons on Ebay? Hmmmm.... wow, we might still get to go - that is TOO cool!!!
Now I have to go put money on my credit card - just in case! |

People who got tickets on Ebay should call TM when and if they get the tickets in the mail and check to see if they are still valid ! Sad but some people are going to get screwed ! I was told by TM that they are only killing tickets that exceded the 4 limit on the same IP address, and or credit card number. Check the website for more info in days to come. The person I talked to seem to be reading to me from a script. Who knows, maybe it's all bull poo ?

Hi all.
FYI: it is not illegal to sell tickets on ebay in b.c. {alberta and manitoba, it is illegal} Check out: http://pages.ebay.com/help/policies/event-tickets.html so TICKETMASTER IS DOING ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO STOP SCALPERS except having the random draw to see who buys the first tickets {which also prevents people from camping out overnight to be first in line.} Sorry guys, but ticketmaster has done their part. They've sold the tickets. That's all they care about!!! |

oh and p.s.
the commodore holds 900 people, and that's what's so great about it!!!!!! it's the greatest chance to see the band in a small venue! Not to say that I wouldnt go if they were playing at the orpheum, but i probably wouldnt go to like, gm place. It's not the same. And that is what makes this 'warm up' tour so incredible.!! |

I saw the new and improved TM site today as well. It's really good to see some effort coming from them in trying to stop scalpers.
On a side note, if somebody needs a place to crash if they're from out of town and headed for the show, I might be able to offer up a place. No crooks please! My email is fifield@interchange.ubc.ca if you're interested.
Also, kottke. I'm sure you have the best chance of all of us in getting tickets from some kind soul out there. Like I said, I'm keeping an eye out.
Speaking of eyes, please please please, belive me whan I say I'm not a scalper, but if I find somebody around town looking to sell, is there a market here? I know some Brit was going around here trying to pull the same scam. That's not what I'm trying to do, here. But if I come across some, I assume it's safe to say that somebody here would be willing to pay some pretty outrageous prices. Just a thought... |

Addendum: I think there may be something to this ticket tracking thing. My tickets won't be available to be picked up unitl Friday, which has never happened with any First Day tickets I've bought. That may have something to do with it. Does anybody here have any thoughts? Here's to hoping... |

hi everybody,
just to let you know the commodore has been known to exceed capacity from time to time. when there are only 900 people at the venue it seems almost empty. i would swear that when i saw porno for pyros, oasis, sugar, the wonderstuff, and others there were at least 1200. in the late 80"'s the tragically hip played 5 nights in a row and it has been said there were 2000 people each night! i hope i get tickets before the night of the shows, but i am confident there will be a hundred or so for sale the day of. |

Yeah, so I am first on this topic's list to get a Friday Vancouver ticket. But unfortunately, as kind and honest and wonderful a human as I am, I have heard nothing definite about me getting a ticket for Friday from anyone. Just a couple of kind emails saying 'maybe' from a couple of people. My hopes are high, but I am also trying to be realistic in telling myself that I might get nothing. AND LIKE IT! (Caddyshack, anyone?)
Here's to still desperately hoping for a Friday Vancouver ticky via buy or trade. And yes, if I get hold of ANY extras, I will give them to this topic's people in order.
Anyone? Hellooooooooooooo-o-o-o? Echo-o-o-o!

Kottke & all, I've been absolutely slammed at work and don't have much time to post if I even get time to read any threads at all. But I've made it clear to my boss that I'm taking time off at work come April. I was able to purchase tickets online. I'm confident that I won't have enough friends that can make the show. Let me actually get the tickets in my hands before I make any promisses. I have a hard time trusting the whole ticketmaster system right now. Which is why I still haven't made my travel or lodging arrangements. I've already been on the phone with ticketmaster over 4 times. I hope it happens soon.
I'm sure that there are others in my shoes. So don't give up hope so soon! Give things a chance to settle out. -roger.

Thanks Paco, I'm feeling slightly better :)
So, should those on the list start specifying exactly how many we need and whether we have a preference for which night? It might make the outlook a little clearer ...
Anyway, I need one for 4/23 (can't make it on Thursday) ... I've probably said that already though...
So from what little I know this would be the list ... others have probably specified but I'm not that organized:
kottke (1 for Friday) Jo_Vancouver (2 for Friday) mnsteelers gone_phishin2001 roomloo (1 for Friday) fumanbru dkcomet zenon_jhs (2 for either, pref. Thursday) |

Hey, I'm looking for 2 tickets for the Thursday show (will settle for Friday though to).
I put my name down on the 'Need a Ticket? Post Here' thread at about 9:45 on the morning of the sale. Could I get put on this list according to when I posted on that thread? If not, just tag me on the end. I'm really desperately trying to get these tickets (was planning on this being a 5 year anniversary thing with my significant other). |

I'm not sure where I am on the list, but I have two tickets to Thursday. Of course, I have many friends who would like to go, so I'd like to get my hands on whatever I can. But not until the posters here who don't have tickets to any get taken care of first.
I may be willing to do a trade of one Thursday for one Friday, I'm sure the girlfriend would understand. But again, I'd rather the posters here with no tickets get taken care of first. |
