i have to agree with mattb on the tickets i'm a newbie here but i am still a huge pixies fan. i was thinking the same things with the tickets, i am down for 2 but really need 4, but if i am going through all the work in trying to get the tickets then my friends are shit out of luck. i am still trying to get the max tickets and any extras will go to the list but i think that trying to fill someone's order of more than 2 at a time is unreasonable because if they are all die hard fans of the pixies then they should be putting there name on the list for themselves.
i think the way this forum is pulling together in trying to get tickets for each other is great. hoping to meet some people off the list at the show. |

Dude, don't get me wrong I'm not like anyone big on the forum or anything. I just meant I might have joined the forum before taxman and would be higher on the list. Yup, 'fraid so, not much of a Frank Black fan after Teenager of The Year. |

If you are going to fly to Winnipeg you can get cheaps flights from Toronto and Chicago. You can also fly to Fargo and rent a car and drive 3 hours (or goto Minneapolis and drive 6 hours).
Kinda ironic giving people directions to get to Winnipeg for a concert since we are used to driving hours or flying accross the country to see bands ;)

I guess we'd need someone from Winnipeg to suggest somewhere near the show. Anyone have any ideas? |

Myself and two of my buddies need tickets too, I'm gonna camp out online and see what I can get that morning on ticketmaster. We'll be making the trip from Minneapolis. |

In terms of a pre-show thing I was thinking the Albert. I think they would be cool with getting some extra business on a weds. http://www.royalalbertarms.ca/index.htm It's about a 5 minute walk to the show from there.

Is the 21st 100% confirmed as the on-sale date then? |

According to the receptionist at the Burton Cummings Theatre it is. |

Apparently yes; however if you look at tickets going on sale in the next seven days on ticketmaster.ca there is no mention of the show. Grrr |

Sounds like a plan if it's close to the venue. Everyone ok with that? |

It's already apparently confirmed that Calgary tickets will NOT be online ... and with ticketmaster.ca making no mention of Winnipeg (that are supposedly on sale in four days???), I'm not feeling totally confident that those will be available online, either. Are we absolutely, completely sure they will be?
If anyone who knows anything casts any reasonable doubt on this, I'm in my car this Friday evening and driving to the box office from Minneapolis. |

I called Ticketmaster in Canada, and talked to a lady there, I asked some questions about ordering over the phone and online (for U.S./Canada issues), and she said to order the tickets online because it will be faster, which is obvious. The point is, it sounded like they will be available online. |

tickets often don't show up on ticketmasters site until a day or two before the onsale for the show, so don't sweat that.
anyone know anything about Saskatoon or Regina tickets? |

In a related story, I have been checking this page every day:
http://www.ticketmaster.ca/cgi/venues_ca.idc?vaxname=VAN&venuenum=140
...you will notice Henry Rollins just appeared there this afternoon. The tickets for this show go on sale in only 2 days, so here is an example of what Solace is saying. Hopefully we will see the Pixies show appear magically tomorrow or Thursday?

Okay so the Albert sounds like a pretty cool place to me. Here's a question for people who live in Winnipeg:
I noticed on ticketmaster.ca they list a nearby restaurant as "Mother Tucker's Restaurant" My first reaction to this was to laugh hysterically. Is the name of this place supposed to be funny?
Also, since we are going to be in Winnipeg for most of 2 days, what are some other really good places to EAT? I have been to B.C. several times, but never Manitoba... |

lol, we used to have a mother tuckers in Toronto but they changed the name to Tucker's. It's not meant to be funny hence the name change. It's a meat and potatoes buffet place. It's not horrible but it's not amazing either. They give you prime rib though so that's worth the $10 you spend there on lunch. |

The Mother Tucker's in Halifax is still called Mother Tucker's. Someone ought to add some orange spray paint over the T and change it to an F. That's always been a fantasy of mine. |

Seems we have a little contradiction. According to the press release the time tickets will go on sale is 9:30
APRIL 14 Burton Cummings Theatre, Winnipeg, MB CANADA Ticket price - $30.00; On-sale date - Saturday, February 21, 9:30AM

I see the Press release (http://www.frankblack.net/miscfiles/pr-pixieswarmuptickets.asp) says 9:30AM. Hmm.
Ticketmaster.ca says:
"the most common time for tickets to go on sale is 10:00 a.m. (local time) on Friday, Saturday or Monday (note that in Alberta and B.C. Saturday on sale times are usually, but not always 9:30 a.m. local time)."
So, I thought this would mean that dates in BC and Alberta would be at 9:30, and all others would be 10AM. However, looks like this is not the case? |

The folks at the Royal Albert think it's a great idea! I'll let you know more details as they occur. |

Mother Tucker's hasn't been at that location for a few years. It's a Mexican place now, and not a very good one at that. There are good restaurants within walking distance, however, since the theatre's right downtown. Some good Indian places, and the best Italian restaurant in town not too far away - Tre Visi.
Check out the King's Head Pub as well, although you need to be with a member to get in. |

When I was thinking of places to meet before the show the Kingshead was in the running but I knew that the whole membership thing might cause problems. I was thinking of talking to Jay but it was just easier in terms of location as similar as they are, to choose the Albert. It's also a hotel but not high on my reccomendation list. The get together is starting to attract a fair crowd in winnipeg so if there's the possibility of overflow I'll talk to the Kingshead people and see what we could do to make it happen. I can't possibly stay this high until April. I'm in the midst of a divorce right now. Thank you, you Pixies for getting together and starting off your reunion tour here to ease my divorce pains.

Hello Jared, Thank you for writing in with your questions. Yes, you can purchase a Winnipeg event on the Charge-By Phone line (2040780-3333 or www.tickertmaster.ca <www.tickertmaster.ca>" target="_blank">http://www.tickertmaster.ca> You do not have to register online to purchase internet tickets. (If you are referring to The Pixies in Winnipeg - April 14/04, I would recommend online purchasing. Tickets go onsale, Saturday Feb.21/10AM- 4 Ticket Limit- we expect a sell out within 30 mins.) Regards, Paul Robles Customer Service Manager 500 Portage Avenue, Suite 500 Winnipeg, MB R3C 3X1 (204)985-6809 (204)772-5030
I just received this e-mail from Ticketmaster...I'm going to try it at 9:30am though to be on the safe side. What's with the time discrepancies? |

"sell out within 30 minutes"
That figure might be a little optimistic, but if not that gives us all a ton of hope...
But yeah, there seem to be some issues with the on-sale times posted on this site, or else Ticketmaster doesn't have its act together. |

I sure as hell hope it takes that long. I'm getting worried. I mean, I'll sell my soul to get a ticket to this show, but I've got a lot of other friends who are very driven as well. I'm not sure how I'll be able to make sure they all get tickets. It'll be tough.

Tre Visi's a restaurant, but doesn't have a bar. Bad place to meet, because it's also quite small. Better to decide between the Albert and the King's Head.
My vote's for the King's Head. |
