Prelude:

When Lisa Germano fans go to a concert of Eels or Neil Finn just to see Lisa Germano play the fiddle (and extra's) and not in the first place for the main act, they all wear buttons so they can recognize other lisa germano fans.

Maintopic:

That what we need, just to see who is from the Frank Black army and recognize eachother between the new BLink 182-punk who thinks the pixies are ok and the Red Hot Chilli Peppers fans who think the pixies are shit, because they think Kim Deal doesn't slap enough.

We need shirts, fb.net shirts would be awsome.
And it could have a print on the back like:

More FB please!

or something like that, just to make people curious about fb.
Cause how cool the pixies reunion is, fb is our (my) main interest.
When I think of it, let's discuss what should be on the shirt.
I think it should happen.

They could have the FB.NET HELLO MY NAME IS thing on them - (like in Mereubu's profile) - I am not sure who intially created that but I like it. Buttons would be okay too, and probably would be cheaper.

Good idea!

The infinitely talented Big Galoof made the Hello My Name Is. . . badge. I think they would be great to have on the front of the shirt, cause then you could write your name in.

shirts are a great idea and it would be a great way to raise money for the site
OR someone could just make a design and we could print it off for free as an iron-on thing

It's not cool to wear a t-shirt of the band you are seeing. Only if you buy it at the gig and the only place to put it is on your body. That is the only exception.

Let's stay focused comrades,

buttons would be great
iron on things would be better
I'm not too fond about buying from this site
not that it's not a great way to raise money
but I don't know if we could pull it off before the pixies shows

ohh yes,

Thanks for that you dedicated follower of fashion. I am not cool so I don't care. Like Kurt sang, I'd rather be dead than cool. I can't believe you live your life by fashion's rules. You're sad pal!!! I mean seriously who makes up these rules anyway? Who the hell said "Oh no you can't wear a t-shirt of the band you are going to see at the actual gig".? It's showing your support in a visual way, showing that you're not there to see the RHCP or 'cos you watched Fight Club last night.

Now where did I put my wrist band and trucker's cap? - DOH!!!

I like it, but how about fb.net instead. This way all us cool people would really know it's frankblack.net while everyone else checked out www.fb.net and got lost.

edit- to change to lower case. sweet.

I agree with Thomas.

And I'm for this idea; one can go to an fb show and somewhat easily meet people from the forum in person.

uhm I think Thomas wasn't really serious here. It was more like a joke, a good one too, well maybe not a joke, just some inside how the indie world often works. It is indeed sort of uncool to wear a shirt of the band that's playing, no you wear a shirt of another band just to show off how much you know about music

Erm, yeah...Im thinking badges might be better? With just something simple like fb.net on them. Simplicity is always better. Or maybe we could have both, and people can chose, or wear both?
I dont like wearing tshirts...so im all for badges...plus they would be cheaper, and cheaper to make too....

on the other hand, a t shirt is more recognizealbe(?) from a far distance than a badge

There are something like 50 (ok let's say 100) people posting regularly here. So do you really think that if we wear fb.net t-shirts, we will meet each other? Come on, there are members from all over the world. From France, there are like 10 regular members, and only 3 or 4 of us from Paris.

I find that t-shirt idea interesting, though, because it is a good advertising for the site and for Frank Black (as opposed to the Pixies). I like going against the mainstream. I am French.

I think having our names on them would be a cool idea, then i would be like "hey, theres bill goodman" and you'd be like "hey, theres a guy in a rover(although he isnt actually driving a rover)."
Except that wouldnt happen cos you live in Holland and i live in England but hey i like the t-shirts idea,we will have to move fast however.

To me the only problem with the T-shirts is that I like to look cute at shows. I so rarely go out - it's an excuse to buy new clothes! So maybe a buttom would be a good way to go for vain people like me.

If I was really going to have a t-shirt there are two options I'd be happy with:

1) Just "FB.N". Keep them guessing. The FB guitar logo from the orange album incorporated somehow.

2) The teletubby matchmaker shirt. That picture is gold.

That's my two shirts on the matter.

hehehe..really funny stuff here. How did my face get on a shirt? =P

I'm not too crazy about tshirts, but a badge/patch and buttoms (and buttons) seem like a cool idea..

I'd also like to see some FB.net stickers (tho The Man hates stickers. ;)

I might have enough capitol to put a down-payment on some merch with the donations we've gotten..and i'd give Friends Club members priority, and a discount on stuff...

Now we just need to come up with a cool design....hopefully one that doesn't get us sued by the Teletubbies folks. =)

but can you make it happen before the reunion?
we need to advertise our site and frank black as well
because I can't understand pixies lovers who hate fb
some of them lost interest in him somewhere during his solo career
and (weirdly) don't know about his last (great) albums

we need to make descisions though

i too think this an awesome idea.

i was one of the pixies fans who never really had gotten the same pleasure from franks solo stuff, even though i had bought them all.
it wasn't until i this site took over from the abstract plain mailing list that i became more interested in franks stuff and gave it more time, and now i'm smiling...

but you'd better get ya pants on pretty soon - time is running out.

It would be good to get some text (in smallish letters) on the back of the shirt.

"Serving fans since 1826"

or

"A dancing bear free zone"

or

"Orangey yellow...lovely"

or, a lyrical snippet

"Don't worry the leopards won't bite you"

It would keep people guessing....I guess.
