"... someone on the CBC calls the new Outkast song (Hey Ya!) 'the only hip hop song influenced by the Pixies'"

I think someone mentioned this song in a previous post. If you got a sense of humor check out this here below more Pixies-ized cover:

The Blankket's cover
http://www.frampton.plus.com/the_blankket_-_hey_ya.mp3

The original version is being hailed by Radiohead's Thom Yorke as single of the year. Personally, to me the first 2 minutes or so of it ain't so bad.

It's an interesting song, definitely catchy and good to hear from a hip hop group, but it got old for me pretty quickly...it doesn't really go anywhere. Dracula's Wedding is cooler.

I love Hey Ya! I can't listen to it without shaking my booty. It's such a silly fun song.

It may not go anywhere, but I don't think it really has to.

It goes from point A to point B
And in between you shake your booty

Ergh, "Dracula's WEdding" bores me. I'm big into "Spread" and "Ghetto Musick". Anywho, that song doesn't really sound anything like a pixies version of "Hey Ya". i like the bad bass sound, tho.

I second Johnny Yen. "She lives in my lap" and "Behold a Lady" are good ones too.

I'm still not tired of "Hey Ya". "Dracula's Wedding" is great but I usually skip once she starts reciting the wedding verses.

My Puerto Rican buddy, whose music tastes are sometimes questionable, put this on in the car and said, "Here's something you'll like". Funny how he was right.

Where did that quote come from and who said it? I don't hear the Pixies in 'Hey Ya!'.

There's a non-standard rhythm thing throughout the song that's kinda Pixies-esque. But it's been done before in hip-hop many, many times. That's the only similarity I recognize.

NOW IF SOMEONE COULD CONVINCE THAT GROUP TO DROP THE RAP IN THEIR SONGS, I'D BUY AN ALBUM THAT WAS ALONG THE LINES OF 'HEY YA".

I really don't understand what makes THIS song so great. Seems like every other dance number to me... fun (and definitely booty shaking, if not head-cramming) but not interesting. Might as well play Sandstorm right after it in my opinion.

i think the very simple chord progression makes this a good one for me. G, C, D, E all the way through and it still sounds cool.

For ten thousand years he slept, his mind feeding on the nightmares of the weak. Now he has awakened. As the night turned crimson, the fire-blade shattered and his power died. Then, the slaughter began...

There's a definite similarity with the chorus in Wave of Mutilation. Can't you hear it?

I actually figured out a chord progression for this on guitar, but I can't recall it right now. It probably was'nt in the right key. It'd be cool song for a guitar-cover!
