Good point actually. I don't want to hear any more new songs until the album is out (unless they're as bad as The Moon Song) |

For those who want to listen, the full Stockholm show is available on youtube, with both Vault to Heaven and Who's More Sorry Now as part of the setlist. |

'Who's More Sorry Now' is my clear favourite of the two. Love Joey and Paz's playing.
Is 'Vault of Heaven' about getting stoned in the attic writing songs? That wordless bit Paz sings feels like it's crying out for a better chorus.
Interesting how all three of the 'Doggerel' songs they play at that show all seem the same tempo and feel. Sounds like they're still trying to find a pace that fits 'There's a Moon on'. All over the place here - it sounds better fast!
Nice to see Charles bringing back his SG Jr for 'Planet of Sound'! |

Agree with Ziggy about Sorry being better than Vault.
Neither of them fit in with the 1.0 heavy setlist in my opinion. But nice Frank tunes regardless |

I thought Cecilia Ann sounded a bit funny. Guess it was leading into St Nazaire which is great (even if it's basically a song by the Clash). |

Sounded like Joey screwed up at the end - but it all sounds fine to me - doesn't seem to have the same energy that I heard on the 6 Music broadcast though?
Popped my head out the bathroom just after I shaved and heard the end of a song I didn't recognise where they were singing La la la la.. was that one of the new ones?
I'm now about to finish drying myself off and get dressed. Every time there's a live Pixies broadcast I'm always late getting back and in the bath. |

Yeah there was a new one shortly before Cecilia Ann. Only caught the last few seconds of it.
Haven't been overly impressed with a good chunk of these songs but Motorway was brilliant. BF on top form for that one. Vamos was great too. |

I don't understand why it seems to be completely dark there and it's still light here in Scotland? I know it gets darker a bit earlier if you are more south this time of the year but this much?
EDIT: Forgetting of course am I that latitudinal position is also important it's like 10pm in Germany now! |

Was Joey out of tune on purpose at the start of Debaser there? |

No just plain bad I think
He screwed up on some songs Like Dave in St Nazaire (because BF sang the wrong lyrics)

Watching again from the start - what kind of weird intro was that? What song were they playing, who was that singing and what the hell does it have to do with cactusses, or cacti as normal people spell it. |

Must be getting tour fatigue?
I don't know how bands can play the same songs over and over again they must get really bored with it sometimes.
Joey's got a face on him like a wet blanket the night actually - maybe the heat is getting to them all and they're no sleeping well? |

Human Crime just played the old Haha! You've heard me before but you can't quite remember what I am; and yet you like me more than the time before, when you knew what I was.. trick on me there and it worked! I thought it sounded quite good. |

Letter To Memphis is sounding great!
Naw.. no that yin! Ay get TLM songs mixed up - in fact I'm a bit like that with most albums these days I suffer from song title dyslexia. Maybe I can get a microchip implanted in my brain that can store all the information from all the thousands of different albums I have listened to in my life or Shazam them from sampling my brain waves? That would be really cool I might suggest it to some Fourth Reich Transhumanists.
I think I meant the Jesus & Mary Chain one.
----
FBF's voice sounding really great on the Spanish COM one(s) they played 2 hours ago - and his Spanish intonations are very interesting and complex |

Honestly, back in 2007 when I saw FBF on the Buster Bloodvessel tour I thought that's it, this is probably the last time or near to the last time we'll ever hear him scream like a banshee again - but here we are in 2022 and he's still screaming - if anything it's his higher pitched tones that have suffered with age (although he just nailed the start of Gigantic just then) - can't wait to hear him play some more country folk style acoustic stuff when he's in his 70's |

At Vault Of Heaven - I took the plunge and my review is this. I like it and I think it has potential to grow on me. Reminds me of something(s) maybe has a bit of a 60's feel to it. Can understand why some might think it sounds Catholicky especially when we get to the singing and it's very 4/4 bar or you know what I mean and slow. Maybe they just want to play slower numbers because they're getting older and it's just natural that you get slower at everything when you age.
I think the lyrics suck probably as they do in the Moon song so I'm getting a lot of Dalgety overcommercialisation of sound so far.
But I liked the guitar sound it was a bit cowboys and indians, and then Paz's sing came in all like 60's Velvet Underground or something. Bit it's just all a bit fake and seems forced. |

I must say, I can't get Joey's riff from 'Vault of Heaven' out of my head.
"Again to 7-11/Cos I think they're pretty great" is in the camp of brilliant/daft. I can't decide which.
Interesting to see them run through Vault/Sorry/Moon/Lord back to back at the Rockpalast show tonight.

Hahah same! It's certainly growing on me.
Looking forward to hearing the album versions. Some of the acoustic driven 2.0 songs have sometimes struggled to come over live, depending on the mix/who's recording them.
'Who's More Sorry Now' is fast becoming a favourite. |

Also could the song be about his first new music as Black Francis since 1991? The boxset is called 7-11

It's good to hear news songs and played quite decently! Though, since Head Carrier, everytime I hear a new Pixies song it instantly reminds me of a Frank Black (and the Catholics) one or a cover he/they made. First verse of Vault Of Heaven rang This Old Heartache's bell. In the case of There's a Moon on, I felt the vibe of Snake Oil. Who's More Sorry Now? You're Such a Wire... yes... though the bridge and outro are really, really beautiful. As for The Lord Has Come Back Today it's just... True Blue. Don't you think? Anyway, they look in shape. Yes, they should work with another producer, yes, their manager managed The Spice Girls, yes, the Pixies are no longer the Pixies from last century but it's okay... By the way, the song played just before the show is a cover of Young And Joylful Bandits originally from Fassbinder's final film Querelle. It was written by Peer Raben and David Ambach. This soundtrack is beautiful and Frank Black once cited Peer Raben as one of his favorite composer.
