What songs from our man go well with the current Covid-19?

Please understand I do not mean to make light of our plight whatsoever. I just find that this sort of exercise can be a fun distraction and give some insights.

The first one that came to mind for me was Bad News. Lots of doom and gloom in that tune. “Something in the stars” makes me think of the Apocalypse, plus the virus kind of resembles a star. Stars sounds like SARS.

Anyway, feel free to contribute to this utterly depressing thread.

Great shout with Bad News. Some BTE songs would probably fit alright too.

Might As Well Be Gone
Death Horizon
If Your Poison Gets You
In the Time of my Ruin
I'm Not Dead

In fairness, you could have half of Fast Man on there.

Good ones!

I think At the End of the World might work.

Announcement always felt kind of ominous to me as well.

But yeah, Death Horizon is very good

I feel like the Don’t Get Me Wrong video has a nice pandemic feel to it. In a hospital bed maybe, showering while playing guitar, meaning extra heavy / constant sanitation

The Sad Punk

Just recently I finally grappled those lyrics. They are definitely about the short duration (evolution) of civilization which is always struck by extinctio (here maybe more a killer asteroid - one thousand miles an hour).

Mood-wise, Death Horizon and its little sister, Sing for Joy. Somehow also Massif Central - hiding in the mountains.

I joined the cult of Souled American / 'cause they are a damn' fine band

I love your observations on The Sad Punk. That song is way deeper than it seems. It's one of his best ever for sure.

In The Time of My Ruin is in the film, “Seeking a Friend For the End of the World,” which is nice to see someone else on the same page. Not a bad movie

Ooh, that's a good one too kfs. And Two Reelers, really hadn't thought about the lyrics for Sad Punk for a long time, great call there, too! Keep 'em coming!

Not sure I get that one.

Seven Days is quite a depressing song in its own right if that's what you mean.

Here in the UK the govt advice if you have a fever or new continuous cough is to self isolate for 7 days if you live alone, 14 for families.

But you're right seven days is quite depressing with its odd tempo

Ah, I get it now. That is actually a good one!

Seven Days was always a challenging part of FMRM for me initially. But now I dig the whole double album adventure.

Drove down the A1 from Edinburgh today on the way back from my 73 year old mum with her car so I can still get back if she gets ill and they played Debaser on the radio. Epic as fuck, but not as epic as Wildflower by The Cult.

Hey pot good to see you again.

Sounds like quite a special experience there with Debaser.

Hope all is well with you and mom.

Any experience with Debaser is noteworthy, but Tom Ravers playing that on the radio after Wildflower as I was driving was cool as fuck. And since my mum wasn't in the car I was also able to pump up the volume.
