What songs from our man go well with the current Covid-19?

Please understand I do not mean to make light of our plight whatsoever. I just find that this sort of exercise can be a fun distraction and give some insights.

The first one that came to mind for me was Bad News. Lots of doom and gloom in that tune. “Something in the stars” makes me think of the Apocalypse, plus the virus kind of resembles a star. Stars sounds like SARS.

Anyway, feel free to contribute to this utterly depressing thread.

Into the white. Because everybody is flying blind here.

Man of steel. Because of loneliness and isolation.

At the end of the world. The line "The sun came up, less one ray" refers to one man having died, and overall the song somehow also expresses (at least to me) a feeling of surprise because of the unexpected death of this beloved man (John Candy). So I think in the context of the current situation, those elements (unexpected death of loved ones, everyday in the thousands) in juxtaposition with the fact the sun will not stop coming up every day poses a beautiful and terrible image at the same time.

I joined the cult of Souled American / 'cause they are a damn' fine band

You made me revisit Man of Steel and Oddballs, what a great collection of songs, Lyle Workman is on fire.

Well I took a little something
To make my worries go away
I laid down with a movie
And I started to feel OK
But I heard the doorbell ringing
And I opened up to see
My worries they were waiting there for me

Now Death as you'd expect
He was all dressed up in black
Misfortune in her stockings
And a curve upon her back
And the Chorus Of The Lonely
In their gospel robes of course
They were singing 'bout my imminent divorce

It's a beautiful day
No it's a horrible day
Maybe I will grin but I won't bear
It's a beautiful day
No it's a horrible day
And for the first time in my life I just don't care

So let me get my coat
And let me get my stash
I'll trade my VCR
For a pocketful of cash
I'll take off with my worries
And I'll even let Death drive
We're sure to get there
Dead or alive

It's a beautiful day
No it's a horrible day
You can see here by my grin I don't give a fuck
It's a beautiful day
No it's a horrible day
And for the first time in my life I don't need the luck

Any experience with Debaser is noteworthy, but Tom Ravers playing that on the radio after Wildflower as I was driving was cool as fuck. And since my mum wasn't in the car I was also able to pump up the volume.

Drove down the A1 from Edinburgh today on the way back from my 73 year old mum with her car so I can still get back if she gets ill and they played Debaser on the radio. Epic as fuck, but not as epic as Wildflower by The Cult.

Not sure I get that one.

Seven Days is quite a depressing song in its own right if that's what you mean.

Here in the UK the govt advice if you have a fever or new continuous cough is to self isolate for 7 days if you live alone, 14 for families.

But you're right seven days is quite depressing with its odd tempo

Ah, I get it now. That is actually a good one!

Seven Days was always a challenging part of FMRM for me initially. But now I dig the whole double album adventure.
