Disappointed that this lame song we already know will be the Pixies' comeback single (and maybe video?)
No matter how good Joey transforms it or Paz mellows it, it won't be transcended, and will still sound like Jumping Beans.

I like it. But theres a feeling of "déjà vu" as it was premiered more than a year ago in general indifference. Strange choice to say the least.

Well, Wilson did say that one big surprise for him was how well UCL came out. And I think he had heard the live versions so that sounds positive. I'm just excited to get the party started. It's been a long time now since we started hearing rumors of this album.
Um Chagga Lagga it is, let's hear how it's been changed and hopefully it's worth repeat listens. |

I like Um Chagga Lagga, to me sounds very Isla De Encanta meets Abbabubba. I'm confident it will have changed enough to warrant a release as single.
Besides, you don't want to go straight in with Classic Masher if that's the centre piece. You want to build up to that, UCL will be the hor's d'oeuvre. |

Going back to BF's favourite subject matter...water, oceans and sea's, Ba'al is the god of storms and fertility who controlled rain and thunder.
The Epic of Ba'al tells a story of war, death, fertility and rebirth. Anat, the Warrior Maiden rescues Ba'al from the God of Death and in doing so, saves the world, as without rain the land would not be fertile.
Fuck me, to me I interpret that as one hell of a tip of the hat to Paz. |

I'm not being negative
I have high hopes and expectations
It seems ages since we first heard Classic Masher or Indie Cindy
I'm very happy they haven't used Gil Norton for this record, very happy they recorded 14 to 15 songs in Toronto pre-prod, and hand-picked the (hopefully) best ones for the album.
Just a bit reluctant to hear UCL as the torch-bearer

| I don't think many people outside of the hardcore batch know it really exists, and this version is a strong debut to keep the doubters at bay. Joey's guitar sounds like it's growling the whole way through. It's one of the key tracks I keep going back to, which surprises me as I had the same shrugged reaction when I heard it would be the lead (this was before I'd heard the new version) |

I hope they won't "overPaz" the album
I like her, but it may sound too much of a recipe, reminiscent of vintage Kim Deal times, if she's given too much vocal prominence
The Rolling Stones version of UCL was a bit too Paz-ey for my taste, almost as a gimmick

Was fortunate enough to hear Um Chagga live last year at the Beacon.
Thought it had a Six-Legged Man sort of thing going for it.

A friend of mine is at the Toulouse gig and sending me crappy vids: so far Head On, UCL and another unknown song. Could be Head Carrier, it vaguely sounds like he's singing those words.

| I'm not planning on watching these. I watched Silver Snail, Blue Eyed Hexe, Magdalena before they were released last time. Wanna keep it pristine this time. Have never watched the Classic Masher clips but heard great things about it. |
