EPs 1 and 2 sold out really fast. If I had missed out on them, I'd be happy about this album. People who collect CDs also now get something to buy (and a pretty cool package to make up for the wait, I think).

In any case, I ordered the EP-3 10". I want the LP, too, but I notice that the Pixies site mention doesn't mention that it's limited (though it does for the CD) so I'm wondering if those will be available in stores. Might just wait for that, if so.

Where is your download link pointing to ? For EP1 / EP2, they used some music provider called "topspin". Maybe they have switched to another one... M4A is a lossy file format (EP1 / EP2 flacs being lossless)

it's pointing to stagebloc.com. they indeed switched, away from topspin.

and it's m4a, but it is in fact lossless.

it's educational

A Kim Deal included 'Boom, Indie Cindy, Silver Snail, Ring the Bells, Greens and Blues' ep would of been a critical darling. But I'm a happy camper with some of the other songs as well and that pixies are recording again.

Still taking in the new material and like all Frank material I have to listen to each song at least 4 or 5 times to make an educated response. Bagboy is not one of my favorites from the sessions. I went ahead and bought the EP, the CD and the double vinyl. I support the band and am a collector so these are all cool releases to me. My gut feeling tells me that Paz is going to be a full time member and they want to move forward and start recording a new record with her. The band was ready to put these sessions behind since they were record almost a year and half ago.

Religion won't save me, the damage is done. The future has ended before it's begun.

Jamie Bravo. Damn. Frank got his pop hat on tight. Hasn't written anything as catchy since Teenager. Fascinating. Joey sounds amazing.

Only the pixies could of written Ring the Bells and Jamie Bravo.

EP3 should of been the first EP in my opinion.

Silver Snail: superb. and almost listenable. Wow.
Ring the bell: very nice. but my ears are already hurting from compression.
Jamie Bravo: The Pixies are trying to whisper this fantastic little tune to my ear, but the overcompressed production is making me deaf. OUCH !

@Brank Flack: I downloaded it from Itunes, from the "Indie Cindy" album page.

Opinion after those 3 EPs: great songs, great choruses, great verses, great chord progressions. Little gems here and there. Cons: some songs are unnecessarily long, which has a tendency to take away their catchiness. Repeating a chorus 25 times can be boring sometimes... even for a die-hard fan.

Positive: Pixies are making music, and I like most of it. Well... that's a good point.
Negative: some songs are simply unlistenable because of the terrible mastering. To be honest, I think those 3 EPs are the worst-sounding rock albums... EVER !

About the Pixies making money with the "new album", did you notice that the CD is limited to 3000 copies worldwide (the vinyl has to be limited too). There are better ways to cash in. And these physical records are not for the "casual fan" but for hardcore fans and collectors. From the Disclive CDs to the new ones, including the Msfl reissues and Minotaur, all Pixies records since the reunion have been limited to a few thousand copies. They were made for the real fans, others can get digital copies, hopefully paying for them. Today, the only good reason to buy a physical record is to get what the Internet cannot deliver: a beautiful and rare object.

Personally, I do not consider Indie Cindy as an album. If it was, I would be able to buy it in a record store in one year, 10 years or 20 years from now, and at the moment it does not look like it.

In the early 60's, albums were just made of already released singles. The Pixies are just back to the time when albums were just a convenient way to compile singles.

From the newsletter, there will be more versions. I have all the ep's (ep3 on the way), but I look foward to the 12 track cd.
Guess I will sell my vinyl too. I'm no collector.

With EP-1, EP-2 and now EP-3 having been available only in digital and limited-edition vinyl formats, Indie Cindy will mark the first time fans can have all of the new Pixies music in one collection. Pixies are making Indie Cindy available in a selection of formats:

* available at pixiesmusic.com, a special deluxe, limited edition (3,000) two-disc set (available as a CD and as a deluxe gatefold album pressed on 180-gram vinyl) that includes the 13-track live disc. This deluxe package also includes a 40-page, hard-back book that features the new artwork produced exclusively for Indie Cindy. The CD limited edition is packaged in a special gold-foil hard slipcase.

* as a two-disc, deluxe gatefold album, pressed on 180-gram vinyl

* as a standard 12-track single-CD digipak with booklet

* as a standard 12-track digital download via iTunes, Amazon, and other online retail sellers

* as an expanded digital download exclusively through iTunes that includes a bonus live-in-concert 13-track set recorded during the band’s recently-completed North American tour

On April 19, a week before the official release date and exclusively for Record Store Day - www.recordstoreday.com Pixies will make Indie Cindy available as a special RSD limited edition, two-disc, deluxe gatefold, 180-gram vinyl set, only from independent record stores participating in RSD around the world. When these are gone, they’re gone.

Actually, it looks like the album will eventually be in stores. According to the email I just got, the album will eventually be available "as a standard 12-track single-CD digipak with booklet."

Seems to be variable bitrate... I use winamp and I see the bitrate changing continually... (like VBR MP3s...). Bitrate generally oscillates between +-250 up to 300...

I didn't bought bagboy (already have it).

Does the vinyl version of Indie Cindy from pixiesmusic.com include the live album?
The newsletter is ambiguous.
The tracklisting on pixiesmusic only has the studio tracks.
The front page description does not mention the live album for the vinyl. It also says there are 4 tracks per side (this makes 16 overall)!
The picture of the vinyl shows...6 tracks on one side.

Ring the bells and Bravo's vocals are way, way, wayyyy too low and inaudible. I like silver snail more on this release than live.

I made a playlist with the same tracks as the Indie Cindy album, a few first thoughts:
- Starts off very strong, but has a huge dip after Blue Eyed Hexe. The poppier, more polished, and in my opinion weaker songs (barring Andro Queen, which I love) are saved for a sequence in the end.
- Didn't really think the mastering was that bad (not something I would normally pay attention to) until listening to all the songs in the row. My ears are overwhelmed/need a break.
- Jaime Bravo may be my least favourite Pixies song. First listen, so that could change.
- Silver Snail is excellent. Studio version was a complete left turn from what I expected and worked out well.

I can finally listen to these new songs, however, I'm not going to pay $40 for a new Pixies album, no matter how nice the booklet is. That's fine for a box set but twelve songs? I guess I'll wait a bit and see if they release a regularly priced cd and if not, just buy the download.

They will according to the press release.

The question is: will the deluxe vinyl have more songs (4 sides times 4 songs is 16 not 12).

Yeah it is being released as a normal record. Come on, none of that spirit of the sixites stuff. That's just making excuses.

What's the story with Bagboy? Can anyone confirm if the new itunes version is without the backing vocals?

i'm sure that's a typo, and that there will be only three songs on each side.

just check out this picture that has the vinyl tracklist:

On April 19, a week before the official release date and exclusively for Record Store Day - www.recordstoreday.com Pixies will make Indie Cindy available as a special RSD limited edition, two-disc, deluxe gatefold, 180-gram vinyl set, only from independent record stores participating in RSD around the world. When these are gone, they’re gone.

what is this all about? how will this version be different from the double lp that can be pre-ordered from pixiesmusic.com right now? is it just a limited amount of albums that will be released earlier than the rest? or will these record store day copies be numbered or in any other way be different?

if i get it right, this will be released, album-wise:
- standard 12-track album on cd, available everywhere on 28 april
- 12-track album on double lp (not clear if this is a limited release, or if it will be available in shops), released on 28 april
- 12-track album on double lp released on 19 april, record store day (limited somehow, but possibly identical to the double lp that will be released on 28 april)
- deluxe edition on 2 cds that includes the live cd, released on 28 april (limited to 3,000 copies, pixiesmusic.com exclusive)

and there will be digital downloads available for both the standard 12-track album and the deluxe edition including the live cd.
