"She was all in. We were all there in Wales recording, and after we did about five songs, she just decided she was just done with everything."
Anyone know, besides Indie Cindy which songs Kim worked on?
I'm enjoying these interviews with David and Joey. Mr. Francis is a bit of lightning rod for the 'No Kim, no Deal' crowd. |

In one of the very recent, veru interesting interviews with BF, he seems to suggest that she worked on Greens & Blues.

Interesting. I thought I heard the ghost of Kim Deal in those Greens and Blues backup vocals. |

Great interview with Joe. I hope that EP3 date is just lazy journalism and in fact not true cause it freaks me our that I wont get one. Wikipedia was wrong about EP2 release date (and tracklist) so there is hope.
Also like this line from the Globe interview: Pitchfork predictably threw a temper tantrum, giving “EP 1” a petulant “1.0” out of 10 score |

I chuckled at that quote too, they put it perfectly. It's pretty obvious Joey really thinks highly of Paz, but he also told it straight when he said she does a lot on her own and it may not be easy to have her commit to Pixies.
I like Charles' quote in another article that referenced how they stay touring and preparing new songs to record. The thought of more Pixies beyond the Wales session is awesome. |

Why would an April release date mean you can't get one, Sprite? |

I just mean if the date is out there already the scalpers will be ready. There were many more EP2s out on eBay in the week after it's release than EP1. I prefer the model of no prior announcement as being committed to check this forum a couple times each day I stand a good chance of not missing one before they sell out. |

Some significant quotes in that one:
Was there ever any attempt to scramble to get her back or ask her to reconsider? Oh, we did, we did. We begged her. We did it all. And it was sad. But we wished her well, you know? We knew she made her decision and we just had to go with it. And it’s funny because before I flew to Wales to go record, everyone was asking me if I was excited. And I was like, no. Then they’d ask me why I wasn’t excited. And I had to say, you don’t understand, with the Pixies something always goes down. I mean, it was still fun, but…
I hate to ask, but EP-1 wasn’t met with a great critical reception. Did this lead you to second guess yourself for putting out new music? No, we were happy with what we did with all the recordings–there’ll be another installment, EP-3–and there was some song choices we had to make. We might not have sequenced them right or picked the right songs to make the right impact, but I think it’s fine.
Once all these EPs come out is there plans to package them as an LP? Yes, in the end it’ll all be one complete package.

Maybe this was obvious to everyone else by now, but YES, FUCK YES.
Unless it's just a package with EP1+EP2+EP3+The other songs, without any order other than what's in the EPs.
But I'm hoping for a The Golem-type LP |

Maybe take the best 2-3 tracks from the 3 EPs and add 3-4 unreleased tracks that they've held back on purpose. Could be interesting. |

Seems plausible. But they keep playing 'Another Toe' live, so I'm afraid they think of it as one of their best songs.
We got 3 album-worthy tracks + one b-side on both EPs ('Another Toe' & 'Snakes' being the b-sides). So if they skip the b-sides, and make a decent tracklist for the rest, I think we have a great album coming! I know 'Snakes' is much better than 'Another Toe', but ultimately is not up there with the other songs in my book. We wouldn't want 'Weird At My School' on an album either, do we?
I'm positive about the new stuff, but I'm also a bit sad that the tracklisting on those EPs are so random. EP1 is not a great listening experience because of that, while EP2 makes a bit more sense with the 'bonus track' being at the end!
I think if you start clipping songs off you are invariably going to upset somebody with their faves not being included. Like some one above said the reviews are all totally subjective. Some love another toe, some don't. Some love hexe, some don't. I say include all songs from the Wales session. To answer your Q above. Yes I would, I love weird at my school!! Love manic hyper humorous Pixies. |

My guess is every released song. That'd be 13 songs after EP3. |

The Kim S. thing was rather well explained by Joey. And Kim gung ho about the new material might shock some people.

It's interesting how Kim has kept quite since the she left. You know she's probably being pestered with requests for interviews on a daily basis. I'd like to hear her version of it. |
