Love the thread about the awesome lyrics in FBF songs, got me thinking about the characters/creatures/beings in FBF songs and whether there could be any clues or continued characters throughout his songs.

One that struck me (could just be coincidence with random numbers) is Monkey Gone to Heaven; Man is 5, Devil is 6, God is 7.

Got me thinking of Six Legged Man (Devil is Six) and Svn Fngrs (God is Seven).

Probably reading too much into it, but I love these characters! My fave would probably be Billy Radcliffe, the first boy born in space.

What are your favourite FBF characters/creatures/beings?

He said Velouria is about a half-woman, half-lemur at a recent show.

Brackish Boy is a favorite character of mine. I love "He was feeling so Brackish, between Norwegian and English..."

"Mixed messages from Sir Naff, please authenticate..."

Velouria and Velvety too! I forgot about Velvety sharing the same lemur theme...

"Out on the Eisenhower where I lost my speed
Just a little bit south of a town called weed
I met velvety
My velvety

I like that lemur
I lick it, it's velvety
She made a pretty sound"

Half woman, half lemur for Velouria/Velvety, that is an interesting creature...then theres Selkie Bride too, half woman, half seal. Fantastic.

I love this subject too. I had a couple of Baker's Dozen lists devoted to it. It's good to make a distinction betwren actual people who are subjects in songs like The Three Stooges, John Denver, Robert Zubrin, Fitzy etc, and vivid but sketchily drawn fictional characters or character descriptions like Preachy Preach, Doctor Digger, Visiting Sasquatch or Missy Aggravation. I'd like to compile an alphabetical list of the latter.

Two of my favorite creatures from Frank's solo work are Demon Girl (Thai Chung the gardener included) and Selkie Bride.Charles is an excellent storyteller.A full band version of Demon Girl with Pixies would make me so happy!

That would be great, like a Blackipedia (if such a thing does not exist already?). One thing that crossed my mind is that Vaughan Oliver did a great job of Pixies artwork, how amazing would it be if he were to use his skills to bring these FB creatures/characters/beings to life.

Or anyone with reasonable artistic talent, it would be great to see these characters reimagined on paper.

You can see 17 of the characters/songs represented here. Simon Larbalestier kindly gives name to some of his photographic subjects like Nimrod's Son and Mr Grieves. The Here Comes Your Man dog is called Spike for example. I particularly enjoy seeing an "official" photo representation of my favorite Pixies song, Dead.
